1 year non imm o extension experience.

Just to let you know. From today at Chiang Mai immigration.

I have an expired non o child visa from the states. On amnesty now. I would need to cross the border every 90 days.

Today I went with the mother.

I DIDN’T need the court document that he’s my son. I just needed the paper from the government office stating I take care of him with 2 witnesses. Of course my name is on the birth certificate.

With passport photos of myself and a few pics with the family at the house, the usual copies and forms, I received a stamp that I need to return on Oct 9 for them to put my year stamp. The year will be from Sept 26 they told me.

In 10 days they do a home visit.

Was very easy to do.

Best thing, now I can do 90 day report here. No more border crossing.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience in extending their Non-O visa at Chiang Mai immigration, indicating that they didn't need a court document proving they are the child's father, but instead only required a letter from the government office confirming they care for the child, along with supporting documentation. They also mention that they can now report every 90 days locally, avoiding border crossings.

if you are maried with the mother it’s fine. If you are not you should have need the court paper to say you are legal father. But from an immigration agent to another the rules can be slightly different.

That’s what people say but not the case here.

good for you if they relaxed the rule or if you got a great immigration agent. Maybe Chiang Mai are less picky.

I’ll take a little luck. But the info guys told me this when I came in last week for info and they were spot on.

Nice and easy.

That's good to know. May I ask which government office did you get the document stating that you would take care of the child?

It was the Ampur office in the Mae Rim complex with all the government offices.

If the OP was married to the mother at the time of birth, or after the child was born, then parental rights would be automatically granted.

Thank you for your report.

Did you have to show deposit of 400,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank for the one year support of Thai child extension?

Yes but I put it in today. Didn’t need any advance deposit. Just needs to stay in until October 9 when I go back.

thank you. As required. You are set for a year without the need or worry of 90 day border runs etc. 😎
