TLDR : Answer Summary
Expat tenants in Thailand without a Thai bank account can pay rent using various methods. Common suggestions include using money transfer apps like Wise or Revolut, which allow transactions to landlords' accounts. Some users recommend withdrawing cash from ATMs and depositing it directly into the landlord's bank account, sometimes incurring a small fee. Others have successfully paid rent with international cards or by cash. It's important to choose a method that suits both the tenant and the landlord, considering available banking options.
Depends on receiving bank here... I use Wise to pay house and car lease as the receiving bank is SCB. But kids school bank is Krungsri (50k max) and I have to send via a trusted friend with a Thai bank account to avoid multiple transfers for a single payment.

With money. Traditionally money is a set of value which you trade and can send between countries by exchanging its value. In order to send money you need A. Bank account B. Money inside it C. A transaction app like wise or revolute D. A receiver… are you new to this planet?

Use wise revolut i pay my rent through that and have never encounter any problems. Need cash transfer to a friend they go to the atm and you get the cash no atm fees 🙏
in Thailand your wise card will be handled like an international card and get a 220 THB fee. Beside that wise isn't cheap if you want more than limited cash in a month....
i transfer money to my friend from time to time. Pay 43 bath i think 1.15 usd and they get the cash. When is convenient for them they go to the atm and i get the cash plain and simple no atm. As a matter of fact i have not used my atm in thailand in years
or you can pay the 220 fees. This visa again is a tourist visa just lets you stay 180 days. If you dont want to depend on a thai like you are saying get the proper visa SPEND THE BIG BUCKS and save all the trouble. For me i dont use cash that much so to each of their own . This works for me 🙏

We used to take out cash from an ATM and then go to our landlord's bank and deposit the rent to their account.
ETA: ATM withdrawals are no-fee for us, so it worked better for us than wise or similar services.
do you have to go to a teller or can you use those atms without an account to send money?

Anonymous participant 321 go to a teller. Show them the account number and name that's listed in the lease. Sometime there was a small fee (35-100 baht) depending on the branch we went to.

Use the Thagthai app. It is designed for this purpose.
Thagthai only allows you to scan registered business QR codes. And when a store is registered it generally allows card payment, making it useless. Landlords and street vendors also use personal QR codes so can’t use Thagthai or Moreta.
unfortunately there is non that allows top up via transfer. but you can send money to any bank account using Wise or Revolut. very easy.

While I do have a Thai bank account, I usually transfer money to my wise account and then from there transfer to the owner

Anonymous participant 434 Hi, do you mean you transfer to your thai account from Wise and then pay the owner or do you transfer into a wise account and then pay the owner from there
I transfer to my wise account when the exchange rate is favorable and keep THB there. Then I transfer to the owner from there every month, and to my own Thai account as needed.

Anonymous participant 434 that makes sense I think il start doing the same! thank you!
