TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a TRV visa extension or a Non-O spouse visa in Thailand, the key consideration regarding your passport's expiration date is that no visa extension will be issued beyond the passport's expiration. Essentially, while it may not matter how much time is left on your passport, any extension will only be valid until the passport expires.

They won’t actually care about the amount of time your passport has left, other than the fact that no extension will go past it’s expiration date.

If you’ve got 10 days left of your passport, then an extension will last 10 days.

Thank you. But the 30 day extension can be transfered to a new one so its 30 days when old passport only 10 days left. Right?

nope. When you apply for an extension the validity of your passport is the only thing they’d consider. Whether you can get a new one in time or not is irrelevant.

OK. And what about visa? Like TRV change to Non-O in country?

@Marc ******
The same. If your passport is running out of days then a non O would only be valid for the amount of days left. Regardless that a non O would usually be valid for 90 days it would be valid for the term of the passport it’s issued to.

If the passport has less than 90 days validity then you may find they won’t issue one at all.

If you apply for a visa in a embassy outside of thailand your passport must be valid for 6 months.

ah ok I get what you’re asking. Yes you would need 6 months or more left on your passport to get a visa outside of Thailand. In theory you must have at least 6 months left on it to even enter, but in reality they don’t police that rule.

I thought its the same inside thailand thats why i askin here. Thank you very much.

no it’s not the same inside Thailand. Technically you should, but if you were to apply for a 30 day extension and your passport was to expire in 5 months time they wouldn’t care.
