TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a TRV visa extension or a Non-O spouse visa in Thailand, the key consideration regarding your passport's expiration date is that no visa extension will be issued beyond the passport's expiration. Essentially, while it may not matter how much time is left on your passport, any extension will only be valid until the passport expires.

nope. When you apply for an extension the validity of your passport is the only thing they’d consider. Whether you can get a new one in time or not is irrelevant.
The same. If your passport is running out of days then a non O would only be valid for the amount of days left. Regardless that a non O would usually be valid for 90 days it would be valid for the term of the passport it’s issued to.
If the passport has less than 90 days validity then you may find they won’t issue one at all.
ah ok I get what you’re asking. Yes you would need 6 months or more left on your passport to get a visa outside of Thailand. In theory you must have at least 6 months left on it to even enter, but in reality they don’t police that rule.
no it’s not the same inside Thailand. Technically you should, but if you were to apply for a 30 day extension and your passport was to expire in 5 months time they wouldn’t care.
