What documents do I need to obtain a Thai marriage visa from Nepal if I'm not officially married yet?

Advice needed. I've been reading through posts but can't seem to find the exact info I need. So here is my situation.

I have recently married. But have not got a marriage certificate yet. But I do have a Thai bank account in my name I but 400,000 baht into 3 or 4 months ago.

Due to my work I cannot show money coming into my account monthly. Is this a problem?

Also in a few days me and my wife will go to Nepal. I have messaged the embassy in Kathmandu about requirements, etc. But not heard back yet.

I guess my main question is does anyone have any advice about what paperwork to take to the Kathmandu Thai embassy to obtain a marriage visa there?

Thanks in advance :D

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on obtaining a Thai marriage visa while not yet having an official marriage certificate. They have a Thai bank account with the required funds but cannot provide monthly income. Comments suggest that a marriage certificate is necessary for a Non-O visa based on marriage, and it is recommended to consider alternative visa options, such as a tourist visa, until the marriage is official.

and I think that until the O/P actually DOES get married officially and has the paperwork to prove they're married that this topic has run it's course.

Sorry to close it so quickly BUT there is nothing to be gained by listing the requirements at the various consulates for a non-O based on marriage until the O/P actually gets married. :O

If you decide for the Single Entry Tourist Visa, here is the link to the checklist which you have to use to apply

Yes mate - need marriage certificate then usually things like wife’s tambian baan, copy of her ID card, your passport and all stamps in and out of Thailand. From my old experience your options are : multi entry non o (I think) - basically means you are good for a year but have to leave every three months BUT no money in bank needed - or entering on a single 3 month marriage visa which you can then extend in Thailand on the basis of showing the 400k. For both you need marriage certificate unfortunately... so you would need to re-enter on a different visa then marriage if you can’t sort the certificate before you go to Nepal. Bit of a headache of paperwork but it can be done !

There are far easier consulates to get a Non-O based on marriage than the thai consulate in Nepal.

How about just going on the holiday there and when you get back here, actually GET married..

Then go to Savannakhet or HCMC and get the Non-O visa based on marriage because neither of those places requires proof of funds

Get a single entry tourist visa valid for 60 days, which can be extended for a further 30 days. During this time, get married and get your certificates sorted. Ask the embassies/consulates what docs are required, prepare them, and go! If you are going to HCMC, make sure you take the handwritten letter from your wife, asking them to issue the non immigrant o visa based on marraige to Thai national in your name. HCMC consulate are very helpful

Ok that's a possibility. To give a bit more info. Immigration were really not happy last time I came in as had too many back to back stamps. That's why I am trying to stop being lazy and do a proper visa. Maybe a 60 day holiday visa from Kathmandu would be a better option?

Cert is a requirement at every embassy plus more at some others.

You will NOT get a Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai until you're actually officially married to the thai..

Hey Tom, I think the certificate is a requirement.

yes for sure. I was wondering what other info I need.

Until you actually GO to the Amphur in thailand and get the two papers they give you when you register a marriage here you're not officially married

When you do get married here you get these. THEN you're actually married

then you are NOT married
