- have to do normal 90 day report

- I arrived with DTV Feb 28 so will do my 90 day around mid May.

BUT since it’s 180 days; technically I’d need to leave the country to renter Aug 27.

- is it possible to extend at immigration in Chiang mai or can I do land border run/go for example to Laos and back same day? (Ps I am on the Maui thai DTV route)

Just want to double check - anyone living in cm can you let me know also how you did this?

Thanks!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around extending a DTV visa while living in Chiang Mai, specifically concerning the 90-day reporting and the possibility of extending for another 180 days. The user plans to file their 90-day report around mid-May after arriving on February 28 and wants to confirm options for staying longer without leaving Thailand or by performing a possible border run to Laos. Responses highlight that extensions can be done at local immigration with proper documentation, and performing a same-day border run is suggested as a simple solution.

Also if I am leaving the country and coming back in, do I need to get any type of stamp in my passport to not mess up the DTV?

(For example if you have a visa for the country but you don’t get your exit stamp or the other one which allows you to go away and come back in again without issue - do I need to do the same for the DTV?)

you can extend your 180 days by another 180 days. check with your local immigration office what there specific requirements are… but you will need all documents from your application again with a fresh date and ongoing activity. some offices also require extensive residency proof. check with the IO

For the 90-day reporting period, simply bring your passport and complete the form.

For a 180-day extension, you must show the documentation you submitted with the future activities, as well as have 500,000 baht in your bank account. Here's another option... If you do a border run or go on a short vacation outside of Thailand and then return to Thailand, the immigration officer will not ask any questions.

You can extend in Chiang Mai. You will need to show all original qualifying documentation plus residence details. The 500k has to be in the bank 30 days before the application - it may have to be in a local bank but please double check.

I think the path of lease resistance is to do a same day border run.
