Apparently there are new regulations for STV visa renewal ??
I just went to the immigration today to renew my visa (2nd time) and now they require foreigners to have Covid Insurance from thai company.
I'm a bit pissed as I've already subscribed 1 year Covid insurance with a local company from my country. But now the insurance has to be Thai and I have to subscribe to another one for 3 months.
Is anyone in the same situation? Would be grateful if anyone has good deal regarding insurance for 3 months. Most of the companies here only offer 1 year contract ...
Thanks !

TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent experiences indicate that renewing the STV visa now requires foreigners to obtain Covid insurance from a Thai company, despite previously accepted non-Thai insurance. This change has frustrated some expats, especially those who have already purchased long-term coverage from their home countries. Suggestions and contacts for obtaining short-term Thai Covid insurance have been shared in the community, including options for 3-month plans.
I bought covid only insurance $170 aud for 90 days with cover $100,000 usd I already have travel insurance so no need to double up of course. AXA make you buy travel insurance as well as covid
I have just completed my STV from Australia, 9 months..now on covid extension...it was always a Thai insurance requirement for the STV..I took out 12 months, because there was not 9 , as a result I am still covered, since 13 march
The requirement was always it needed to be from Thai company. I am former STVer in its early days. Some embassies though did give the STV with non Thai insurance, but not going to fly in bkk immigration. Their was at least one province office that let it slide with safety wing I remember a member.
yeah I found this for the COE but the requirement for renewal is a bit different. My first renewal they didn’t care about the covid insurance at all, they didn’t even check it 😕
