I'm currently here on an Ed visa. Is there any interest in keep people like me in Thailand, I would guess yes, since I'm a high spender and have no job and I fit exactly into the description of tourists they like to attract. Yet there has not been any announcement how people like me should proceed. Anyone knows more than me? Or why they want to attract people exactly like me to come here, but on the other hand having no interest in keeping people like me here? That's kind of mind blowing to me.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original post discusses concerns about the status and future of expats in Thailand on Ed visas, particularly regarding renewal procedures and immigration policies. Comments reveal that while there were discussions about processing Ed visas internally, clarity and recent announcements might be needed for those affected. Some suggestions include looking into alternative visa options like the Thai Elite Visa and engaging with immigration to secure one's status.
There are many here on Ed visas that ran out during Amnesty. Even if not favourable news and not withstanding announcement in July, immigration usually make some announcement within days of each Amnesty ending.
You'd get better responses if you were a lot more clear as to your current situation and visa and what your aim with the whole thing is and what issues you are having.
You say you are "currently here on an Ed visa". If that is actually true, none of any of this stuff with amnesty and 26 September affects you at all, you are currently here on Ed visa and should just continue renewing that as normal.
If something else is the case, like you were here on an Ed, and it ran out, you need to be more specific. People aren't mind readers and you'll get even more crap unhelpful comments from the usual suspects than normal.
High spender, no problem to get Thai Elite Visa, or work with an agent to sort out visa. 60k baht or so and your are good mate! Easy to do and perfect time to stay here and spend the $
I don't know if you asked this question in another group, or if it's someone in a similar situation, bit there HAS been an announcement, which covered every situation. About six weeks ago. Please don't tell me you've done nothing in that time to secure your position here. Claiming to be a "high spender" means absolutely nothing to Thai immigration. You need to be visiting immigration to look at your available options.
. It's a new non-imm O visa - for tourist who believes he is propping up the Thai economy! 🤣🤣 Actually, there almost is a visa for that, it's called Elite!
The ministry of education wrote a letter to immigration 11 Aug asking them to start issuing Ed visas in country. To date it still hasn’t been approved.
