Kids age 4 and 7 came to Thailand on 20/5 on Brazilian passports visa exempt until 17/8. Now looking to switch into student visa inside Thailand. I understand that parents don't need to have 500k in Thai bank account as it's not considered an extension of a student visa? What is the financial requirement if any? And is it going to be met by providing a foreign banking account statement in foreign currency?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A parent wants to switch their children's visa in Thailand from visa-exempt status to a student visa. The question focuses on the financial requirements needed for this transition, particularly whether parents need to have 500,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account and if a foreign bank account statement can satisfy the requirements. Comments clarify that each parent typically needs 500,000 THB in a Thai bank account for a Non O Guardian visa, but the children may not have stringent financial requirements for the student visas.

I have never seen them allow a joint account for two separate 'guardian' visa/extensions (based on raising a foreign child) but you're out nothing by asking the immigration office.
I thought you were only talking about getting the kids the ED visas. ๐
ask the Thai immigration office for their list of requirements for the Non O guardian visa.
IF they accept a joint account
That's 1 Million Thai baht. And must stay in the Thai bank for the guardian visa.
It cannot be one account in one person's name for 1 million baht to satisfy the requirements of the Guardian visa for two persons.

okay, so you're wanting to get the kids ED visas? Talk to the school the parents are going to enroll them in. They'll give the documentation from the MOE to the parents who take it to the immigration ofice in the area where they live and apply for a 90 day ED visa for the children. Then when that 90 days runs down they get more documents from the school and get the extension (some schools give documents that get a year extension, and some do it term by term)
There are no financial requirements for the kids to get ED visas issued. That's to do with the PARENTS visa based on raising kids on an ED visa ๐ totally different
