So I just wanted to tell that I got my SETV in Vientiane 2 days ago, but it wasn't without a small hustle.
I had to go inside the consulate building because I didn't have a bank statement when I applied for it (I had missunderstood where the show of cash was needed so I brought the 20k and not a bank statement, but never had to show the 20k, nor when I went back into Thailand)
They also wanted a copy of my girlfriends ID card and proof of onward ticket so I had to go to a hotel and booking + print out my booking for returnflight. (No problem doing so but I thought proof of onward ticket wasn't needed in Vientiane)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user successfully obtained a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) in Vientiane but faced challenges due to misunderstanding documentation requirements. Specifically, they had to provide a copy of their girlfriend's ID and proof of an onward ticket, alongside clarifying financial proof. Despite initial confusion regarding bank statements, feedback suggests printed bank balances are acceptable. The conversation highlights varying requirements and personal experiences regarding Thai visa applications.
Could it be they asked for the extra info because you didn't have the correct financial requirements?

Andy Jennings I had the financial requirements when I arrived the next day, just didn't bring it the first day, I gave them my bank statement with ~1100 usd when I came to collect my passport (but in swedish currency)

How did the staff knew you have a girl friend and how did you get a copy of her ID so quick? This also mean without a girl friend you are not allowed to visit Thailand?

So why is it even on the application for a tourist visa? Okej, good to know =)

As a tourist you can visit Thailand without a guarantor, so you leave that part of the application form blank.

a Copy of the ID of your guarantor in Thailand is something different than a copy of ID of my girlfriend, even if she is acting like your guarantor

Robert Lagas I put her name + number as a guarantor in Thailand, they asked for that on the application.
She was there with me.
