TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian can initially stay in Thailand for 30 days without a visa under the visa exemption rule. To stay an additional 30 days, they can exit to Cambodia for a passport stamp and re-enter Thailand. Alternatively, they can apply for an extension at a local immigration office for 1,900 baht, or they may consider border runs up to twice a calendar year for a new visa-exempt stamp.

If you enter Thailand you get an Visa Exempt Stamp with 30 days of stay. You can apply for a 30 day Extension of Stay at local Immigration or do twice a calendar year a border run for a new 30 day stamp.

The Visa Exempt Stamp is the stamp you get when you enter Thailand from the Immigration at entry point if you enter without Visa.
