Time to renew my non o visa based on having a Thai child. I have done this a few times but would like some advice in case anything has changed.

I am still married but we changed the non o specification based on a technicality. My current visa expires on December 31 2024. I am eager to apply as late as possible to avoid having to apply in December every year. Given bangkok immigration office closures on December 30-31, I am considering going on December 27th.

I will bring:

Completed TM7 with photos,

my child’s birth certificate in English and Thai,

letter from his school confirming his attendance,

marriage certificate,

my wife’s Thai id and tabian baan,

receipt of TM30,

12 months stamped bank statements

proof of funds going back 3 months having over 400,000 THB in a Thai bank

2 pics outside the house, 2 pics inside the house, Map of applicant house in Thailand

I will make 2 copies of everything.

Is there anything I am missing or that I should be aware of?

Thanks so much for all your support 🙏

It is 400k for 2 months in Chaengwattana for thai child. But they might flexible depending on their analysis of your statements. Some say there is no seasoning but there is. If you fall short of 2 months be sure to have way more than 400k. Also, they require pics inside the house, in front of door with address number and in front of your home or condo. Letter from school and pics in front of school with mother.

As for pushing back the date, not possible. Only options are indeed the 60 day visit family, if you haven't used it yet or leaving and getting back in with 60 day stamp and applying for a 3 month O based on thai child (400k no seasoning) not later that 21 days before your 60day stamp ends. Then extend 1 year.

Is it really necessary to show that amount of money in the bank? Or is it enough to show steady income?

Immigration in Pattaya need more pictures together with your wife inside the house and last time even my old expired passport. It depends of the IO:s mood of the day.

every time I go to immigration following the list, there is something else they want that was not on the list. Good to have spaces like this where one can check

I sure wouldn't run the time down that late.

You can apply any time you have 45 days or less at Chaengwattana, you don't lose any time applying early, they add the extension to your existing expiration date

Just curious, what's the reason you're burning your time down like that ?

I was under the impression that if I applied late in December, my next visa would expire one month later so I could start renewing in January rather than December which tends to scupper my travel plans. You would recommend doing it in November instead? That would work for me too.

@Adam *******
another way to "move the renewal date" would be to apply for the ONE 60 day visit thai family extension you're allowed for 1900 baht.

That would move your extension date 2 months so it'd be like march 1st

when you say one, do you mean this will never be available to me again?

@Adam *******
you can get it once per visa/extension SO as long as you're on yearly extensions (without breaking that chain) you'd be done with that 60 day visit thai family extension

BUT

If you haven't taken it since you've been on yearly extensions, it WOULD move your due date 2 months out and not have you have a Dec 31st expiration date

Although with that expiration date you can apply any time after Nov 16 so a few weeks ago, and you'd have gotten a 21 day under consideration stamp as C/W went to 3 week U/C stamps

@Adam *******
your expiration date will not change no matter if you apply early OR close to when the stamp runs out because the year extension is added to the current expiration date

@Adam *******
your window to apply is from 45 days before up until the last day. No matter when you do it, you would not move the date of expiration at all. It will be exactly one year on top of your current expiry date.

I want to be able to travel in the future around December 31st without being disrupted by applications or pickup dates

@Adam *******
your only way to move it is to let it run out, and then start again with a new visa later and then extensions of that.

Edit* or leave the country without a reentry permit, so that the extension gets cancelled.

You will get a 1 month under consideration stamp and your next extension will finish on December 31 2025

You better get the latest requirements from CW. Attached is general information, though this is not Bangkok-specific.

What you may want to be aware of:

- 1-year extensions have the same end date as long as you keep applying for yearly extensions for the same reason regardless of the timing of the application (Applying early (for the same reason) doesn't make a difference for the extension period)

- If you apply for a 1-year extension for a different reason, it will start on the day of application

- CW accept applications within the last 45 days of your current stamp.

You can apply for a yealy extension from middle of November.
