*Update on second COVID extension of stay @ Samui immigration, 15 jan*
Paid 1900 baht, got 60 days (counting from the last day my previous stamp would be valid). No under consideration, so no need to come back.
Immigration officer helped me fill in the forms, the only thing I had to put in the “why” box was “COVID”.
Didn’t need a letter form my embassy.
Didn’t need forms or information from my land lord.
Came from Koh Phangan with the 8:30 speedboat, which are still running. Got the whole thing done in 1 hour.
Immigration was really quiet, so considering the fact you still get 60 days from the moment your previous stamp runs out, I would very much recommend to get your boohoo COVID extension ASAP - in stead of risking queueing for two hours with ignorant singing hippies armed with guitars practicing their improv songwriting while you become more and more suicidal but there’s no escaping because it’s the last day you can get the extension and then by a horrible leap of faith you have to share a 2 hour ferry with the same guitar player who now gathered a slightly intoxicated crowd that mistakes a public ferry with Thailand’s Got Talent.
Good luck 🙏💖
TLDR : Answer Summary
On January 15, an update about the COVID extension of stay at Samui immigration was shared. The individual paid 1900 baht and received a 60-day extension from the expiration date of their prior visa stamp, with the process taking about an hour. They noted that they were not required to provide additional documentation from their embassy or landlord, and the immigration office was not busy. Importantly, the report highlighted that not all immigration offices grant the full 60-day extension on the first visit, as some may place applications 'under consideration' requiring a second visit.
