Looking for current ED Visa course requirements. In particular, has there been a change where you can't do part time anymore?
Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The ED Visa (Education Visa) in Thailand is intended for those studying various subjects, including languages, Muay Thai, and other professional courses. Recent requirements stipulate that to qualify for this visa if enrolled in long-term programs (over 6 months), students must attend courses 5 days a week for at least 2 hours each day. There have been discussions and concerns regarding long-standing options for part-time study; however, it appears that part-time education may not be permissible under current MOE regulations.
There is no ED visa for studying part time :/ The way the MOE has their rules written if you're on a program lasting longer than 6 months you need to study 5 days a week 2 hours a day minimum to get extensions of stays at the immigration office. Now obviously some unscrupulous schools just pencil whip the time sheets you turn in to show you studied those hours.
I know there are schools out there letting their students study a measly 4 hours a week but the student turns in time sheets for their extension showing far higher hours attended >:(
Most of the better schools out there run module based lessons, where you study 3 hours a day, 5 days a week for a month per module.

guess will have to check with the school for that, thanks Todd, that was very helpful
, I think there are two schools in Bangkok, one is a personal defense one and the other is muay thai. I'm sure it's pretty much like language schools. You sign up for a year, pay the tuition, get paperwork to take to a thai consulate in another country and get a 90 day single entry ED visa. Then every 90 days your school gives you paperwork to go to the immigration office to get an extension of stay for another 90 days for 1900baht. You do that for the year.

Is there any of these schools in Bangkok? i heard the personal defense is only in chiang mai. And what costs are involved (besides paperwork fees) ?

ED visas for other subjects have different mandatory hours you need to attend. I think Personal Defense and Muay Thai are like 4 hours a week or something.
