ED Visa.

When I was last in Thailand in August I asked at two language schools about doing a course.

Both quoted 25,000 , 8 months duration and both would take care of the visa extensions.

I heard the other day the rules for an ED visa might have changed?

Said that depending on how many visas you have had in the past you may not be able to get an ED visa.

So, I emailed one of the schools again to ask about this.

Am now told the same 8 month course is 1700 baht but you have to do your own visa extensions.

Anybody else got any info?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around recent changes to the ED Visa regulations in Thailand, specifically for language courses. Initially quoted at 25,000 baht for an 8-month course with visa extensions handled by the school, a user later found out the same course is now priced at 1,700 baht, but students must manage their own visa extensions. There are concerns that obtaining an ED visa may be more difficult if applicants have previously held one, particularly for second or third visas without enrolling in a university degree. It was noted that proficiency tests may apply if studying the Thai language.

Language Ed very hard now if u had one before, u must choose a different language. For first time should not be a issue I think. If u want to avoid police testing you, choose Chinese ;)

I havent heard that Ed visas are harder to get.

But i HAVE heard that 2nd and 3rd Ed visas are tougher unless you are enrolled in a University degree.

If you are studying Thai language, you will.most likely be interviewed and tested on your proficiency so far, to see if your Ed visa is being used for education or a way to stay long term.

. Well if it's her first Ed visa then it's kind of irrelevant.
