Hi, for those who are on an Educational Visa, how many times per week do you need to attend classes, and how many hours per class? Are schools still providing online classes?

Also, did you manage to leave Thailand for a holiday while on the educational visa, or did you have problems with Immigration as you are suppose to stay in Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To maintain a legitimate Educational Visa (ED visa) in Thailand, students are generally required to attend 100-110 hours of classes every 90 days, although some schools may have varying requirements. It's crucial to check with the specific school for their attendance rules, as some don't meet the legal minimum, which can classify them as 'visa mills.' Regarding class schedules, many schools might still offer online classes. Students can request a reentry permit to travel while on an ED visa, but frequent travel could indicate to immigration that the visa's educational purpose is not being fulfilled, potentially complicating the process.

If you have the time you should attend class. Don't be lazy. If you can't attend class because you are too busy with something, explore other options. The Ed visa abuse is making it more difficult for everyone.

If you are on a dodgy watch out big checks coming.

Keep an eye on the news and the group as currently all ED visas and ED visa extensions are on hold pending investigation into illicit ED visas.

surprisingly only one I could find. But short term crackdowns, then things returning to business as usual in a few months is the most Thailand thing ever.

For a legitimate Thai Ed visa, the requirement is 100 or 110 (I can't remember) hours per 90 day period.... That is legal requirement. The school may require more. If you do anything less you are in violation of the visa.

Some schools do not require you to attend that much or at all. Some don't even have schedules that meet the actual minimum. We call these visa mills, as the school only exists to get you a visa. You need to contact your school for their requirement.

I certainly encourage you to attend a school that fulfilling the requirements and you take full advantage of the opportunity to learn thai.

You can get a reentry permit for an informal Ed visa, but don't expect to be out of the country too often since that will show immigration you are not attending class. You also need a reentry permit for each extension as most Thai Ed are usually 60 day extension.

I attend ala for 8 months. 2 hours per day 5 days a weeks. I finished speaking a lower intermediate level and no reading skills.

100 hours or 100 classes in a 90 day period? I know someone doing 2 hours of classes per week in Phuket, while others minimum 8 hours per week.
