Anyone with ED visa studying online? I heard there are some schools in Chiang Mai with cheaper options for online classes. Would love to hear the experience of anyone doing it ✨🌹

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the eligibility for an ED visa while studying online in Thailand. Several commenters emphasize that online courses do not qualify for an ED visa since the visa is intended for those attending in-person classes in Thailand. The commentary warns against enrolling in online programs that offer ED visas, as it could lead to visa cancellation and potential overstaying. Suggestions for in-person courses, particularly at Chiang Mai University, are provided as viable options for obtaining an ED visa.
Chiang Mai University offers great Thai classes, in person that are really useful and through the program you can obtain a visa. Like everyone said, don't risk doing an online course. The courses are quite fun tbh and they help alot with day to day life in Thailand.
If a school is offering online classes then it doesn't meet the requirements for an ED visa.
You get an ED Visa because you need to be in Thailand to attend your classes. If you're taking an online class you do not need to be in Thailand, therefore you do not need and do not qualify for an ED visa.
Chiang Mai was the center of the big ED visa scandal where over 100 immigration officers were fired and thousands of ED visas were cancelled.
If someone is offering an ED visa for online classes then you're at risk of having your ED visa cancelled and putting you into immediate overstay because it will be like you never had the ED visa.
