What are the current procedures for obtaining an expedited residency certificate in Chiang Mai for scooter registration and licensing?

Has anyone had luck recently getting an expedited residency certificate from the chiang mai immigration office? I want to buy a scooter/get a license but would prefer not to pay twice as much through an agent if possible. Also unsure if I need 2 certificates for these two processes or if I can use the same one.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the process of obtaining an expedited residency certificate from the Chiang Mai immigration office, which is necessary for buying a scooter and getting a license. One user confirmed that it costs 500 baht for expedited pickup, and you can use a certified copy of the residency certificate for multiple transactions. Another comment suggests that you typically need two copies of the certificate, as the immigration office usually retains the original.

Yes 500 baht to pick up the next day.

When you go to the DLT, tell them you have two transactions to do there with your certificate residence. They can give you back a certified copy of the certificate of residence to use for your other transaction.

They did this for me a few years ago, but things always change. I don’t know if they still do it now.

Now immigration wants you to buy the bike, show them a copy of the green book, and then they will issue a certificate of residence. It’s annoying but it’s an anti-scam measure that they’ve implemented.

Anonymous participant 595 DLT is a different office than the immigration office right? You're saying DLT can also issue certificate of residence?

Anonymous participant DLT is the Department of Land Transport. That’s where you’ll go for your license and to transfer the vehicle registration.

DLT doesn’t issue certificates of residence. But they can stamp a copy of your certificate to use only at the DLT.
