How can I expedite the Certificate of Residency (CoR) process for my Non-Immigrant O retirement visa in Chiang Mai?

Immigration in Chiang Mai agreed to supply CoR (certificate of residency) yet not right away. They will send it by mail within 2-3 weeks time. WTF??. Does that sound like the expected response...? its needed for a Non Immigrant O for retirement visa. Bank will not open account without the CoR, so that makes the 800k deposited for 60 days before getting the one year extention very tight in terms of times. and maybe even impossible, concidering international money transfers take few days.

not sure I 'll make it.

any advice of how to get the CoR sooner?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is experiencing a delay in receiving their Certificate of Residency (CoR) from the immigration office in Chiang Mai, which is necessary for obtaining a Non-Immigrant O retirement visa. They express frustration over the 2-3 week wait for the CoR by mail, as it complicates the requirement to maintain a THB 800,000 deposit for 60 days before getting a one-year extension. Comments from other users indicate that delays are common, but options for expedited processing or alternative services nearby may help. Suggestions include asking for express processing for a fee or seeking assistance from agents for faster service.

I'm lucky in Sa Kaeo, got mine free within 25 minutes (it only took that long because it was the first time the IO out front had seen an online TM30 PDF).

Yes, it takes about 2 weeks to receive and it is mailed to the address you provide as your residence.

I've gotten a couple from Udon. They've never even asked for papers, just my passport.

"Same address?"

Yes.

"Okay, here you go."

they are very nice in Udon 😊. For example last year for my extension they were not satisfied with some of the photos - they said just send new ones to us from the Line app 😊

it's an easy way or go second floor of immigration and try to pay 500 baht for express service. It's not alot of money either way so upto you and you're welcome 🙏

I would only do that if you try asking for express service yourself and strike out.

Yes. That's normal for many immigration offices. It's how they verify the address is actually your address. Because it will go to you by mail.

But did you ask for express processing? They usually offer that for 500 baht for next day pickup. But you'll need to be there early and can't be too many people around when you ask for it sometimes.

500 baht, you can pick it up next day. The 50 baht is if they mail it.

Should be 500 baht. At least it was a few years ago.

Have 500 baht ready with your passport. Don't make it obvious. Just ask for express service. Have a few extra hundred in your purse/wallet in case the price has gone up.
