Good morning! I just went to samut prakan Imigration to get a recidency certificate for the purpose of renewing my driving license. The lady told me I had to bring them a signed copy of the house registration book for the condo I live in, signed by the owner. I asked her if a signed contract would be ok and she looked at me and nodded, but I'm not 100% sure if she was agreeing with me or just didn't understand me.

Has anyone had any experience getting a recidency certificate from samut prakan Imigration, if so what did you have to bring to obtain the certificate?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Comments from other users provide additional insights on the importance of the TM.30 form, which must be filed timely, and confirm the need for the owner's signed documents.

Can I get a residency certificate, then driver's license if I am on tourist visa?

Yes you can.

Samut Prakan is hard core about that TM.30 form being filed within the 24 hours of you showing up in their district. The good news is, while they will fine you 1600baht for failure to file, they'll also call your landlord and explain to them that it is THEIR responsibility to file the form and that you should get reimbursed for the fine (y)

Yes, I arrived on a Saturday, went their on Monday, no problem.

If you show up on a day the office is closed (weekends or holidays) and you go the next day they're open there is no fine.

They also let you mail it to them, which is pretty easy to do. I'm not sure if other offices allow this? One of my wife's friends said they don't let you mail in the TM.30 at changwattana, which seems pretty strange? It would be good to know if they do let you mail it in at changwattana, I'm moving back to Bangkok in the next couple of months and would like to know if it's possible to just send them the notification, rather than having to come in and do it in person.

Did you know if they open on Sunday? Because I will arrive Saturday and I not want pay to the fine. Thanks

Your address must be registered. You do this with the TM30 form, copy ID house owner and copy blue house book of owner both signed by him/her

This registration should be done within 24 hours after arrival. Take some extra cash in case of a fine for not doing this on time. Normally the fines are 1.600 Thb.
