Has anyone obtained a yellow book and pink card on a marriage visa and know what the cost is ?
Answer summary
Obtaining a yellow book and pink card on a marriage visa in Thailand is generally low-cost, often cited as free or under 1000 baht. However, experiences vary by district, with some expats noting potential informal payments, known as 'tea money.' Typical requirements include visiting the local Amphur with a spouse and necessary identification. While some have found the process straightforward, others mentioned challenges or delays, suggesting the influence of local officials might expedite or complicate proceedings. The benefits include easier access to services like healthcare and the ability to conduct transactions in Thailand.

Not married and have both for free BUT MY costs where the trip to BKK for legalising a copy of my passport at the Embassy, hotel costs in BKK and 2 trips from my hotel to have a legalised translated copy of that legalised copy of my passport at Consular affairs of the (Thai) ministery of foreign affairs. Amphur was free as said before.
Yes. Yellow book and pink card are free or nearly free from your Amphoe office. You can’t get them on your own unless your wife is a government official. Otherwise, be nice to the mayor of your area and ask the mayor to help you. I had the mayor help me, but it still took 6 months. You can speed up the process is you are willing to pay.
Grant Zed Man Wilson yellow book was needed a few years ago for something. Only needed it once and I forgot why. Pink card is a Thai ID card. So far only used the Thai ID to book a hotel with my Thai wife. I just wanted them because I could get them and I didn’t have to pay. Conversely, the Thai drivers license has been very useful. Thai drivers license was B205 plus B60 for the doctors note.
Grant Zed Man Wilson Not SO much, e.g. hotel booking, but also possible with a drivers license, a bit more easy to have a car/motor/bank account on your name, but also many times you need a Certificate of Residence anyway. The biggest advantage I had was when I needed to go to a hospital for 12 days with Covid during the hard times. No bill of 54,000฿. I must admit it was kind of a hobby for me to get both and not a real must.
Did both last year in Sattahip district . We went to the local Amphur asked what was required , my wife did virtually everything . Yellow Book , then Pink ID after they took my photo . Cost was minimal , no where near 1000 baht .
Nick O'reilly, that's a common problem. The reality is you don't have to be married to get a yellow book, but good luck to anybody trying to tell the amphur that.
