What are the options for obtaining a 90-day Non-O visa without the ฿400,000 requirement?

*Marriage Visa*

I completed the freedom to marry certificate, translation, and certification. Officially married at the local district office one week ago (Amphoe).

I then went to the immigration in Chiang Mai by the airport and received a list of requirements. I have every single document necessary and completed. The entire checklist.

*Here’s the hiccup…

I just returned from working in America last week. I just obtained the ฿400,000 for a Thai bank account and planned on transferring it to a Thai bank account when landing (after opening). They won’t open a bank account for me until I have a non-tourist visa. Also to get the initial 90 day non-o they are requiring the money being in an account for three months (And it appears you must fly out of the country for Visa because it cannot be done within Thailand)

Anyone have a solution to…

1) Get the initial 90 day non-o from a country that does not require seasoning of the initial funds (I know different countries have different consulate requirements) and also will accept funds from a foreign account (i’m only talking about the initial 90 day not the one year extension as I will open the Thai bank account once I have the initial 90 day non-o and put the ฿400,000 in the account for the 1 year extension)

2) Or anyone know a Chiang Mai agent that can handle this whole process without needing the ฿400,000 and just bypass that altogether?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking help to obtain a 90-day Non-O visa in Thailand after getting married and facing challenges with bank account requirements. They need to transfer ฿400,000 to open a local bank account but are unable to do so without a non-tourist visa. Community members suggest going to a nearby country for the visa, as some countries do not require the funds to be seasoned, or inquire if there are agents in Chiang Mai who can facilitate the process without the ฿400,000.

You can use the 400,000 baht equivalent for 3 months in the foreign account to apply for a Non O from outside the country. Go to a nearby country of your choice allowing 1 month to procure a non O 90 day. Look at doing that. I did mine staying in Siem Reap Cambodia which is a thoroughly cheap and beautiful city. Luang prabang, Laos would work as well too. Then you come back open an account with Kasikorn and proceed from there. Research each of the Thai embassies of these countries too. Throw in vietnam too.

great info. Only issue is I have exhausted visa options as I have strung out with “tourist” type visas for too long. I have until Feb 5th when stamp expires. Now married and 400,000 is has been in business account but I just transferred yesterday to checking. I could wait 30 days and leave Thailand then process the visa in Lao or Vietnam but only going to show funds for 1 statement. Might get denied.

Go into the Thai evisa system and start an application and see what is needed there and then change the country and check there too if it is any different and good luck. Looks like and Agent is your best option at this point.

I just checked Phenom Penh Thai embassy and it doesn't mention how long the money should be in foreign account for.

interesting… USA said three months, and Hanoi said two months. You’re right Phenom Penh doesn’t specify which could be the best route.

Last time I entered at BKK and used “safe entry” service. They specifically asked if I had been to Cambodia in the last three months. Because I would be denied entry. A little concerned about going to Cambodia right now but maybe with the proper visa and not a “visa free” stamp I’ll have a different result

Are you feeling lucky? It is a game of dice. Don't blame me if it doesn't work. Maybe an Agent is your safest bet now as they do amazing things. I planned my visa out ahead of time and had done lots of visas beforehand. My current Non o 90 was an experiment and the Agents are the back up. I just got a 1 year extension so I am glad I did it without an agent and learnt the DIY method. But each person has to decide if they have the time to experiment or the money and not the time.

You were in USA, why didn't you get the non-O when there? It's what you need to open a bank account. Then you get the 12 month extension based on marriage.

in American it states ~500,000 for 3 months on website. In Hanoi, Vietnam it states 400,000 for 2 months. What country doesn’t ask?

they usually ask for statements covering 2 or 3 months but that is not normally for seasoning purposes (if you quote from websites please provide the links for others to view).
