Wooo celebration time. Finally got my final stamp for marriage visa. During our home visit they mentioned a 2nd home visit. But at immigration today, none of it was mentioned.

BUT

After driving back up to our area, 1.5 hours, to check on our build. Immigration pulls up to check on our build site and workers haha. They were all very chill though.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user celebrated receiving their final stamp for a marriage visa. Despite a mention of a second home visit during a prior home check, it was not brought up during the immigration appointment. Following the appointment, immigration conducted a surprise visit to inspect the user's construction site, which went smoothly. Other users congratulated and shared their experiences, discussing concerns around the visa process, the potential of using agents, and sharing tips on preparations for marriage visa applications.

They will constantly keep an eye on you. You have lost your freedom. Also you don't own anything you build with your money. Welcome to Thailand.

Well none of that is true... but righto. Why are you apart of a Thailand group, or come to Thailand if you hate it so much? haha.

i just have a question about marriage visa with thai spouse. Just if the visa for foreign husband is rejected, ( is there a case? if not clearly fake marriage?) what shall the husband do? they are married, but how can they live together without visa in Thailand? Just curious.

Uh, if everything is legit and the paperwork is in order, there is no reason to deny. Immigration is very fair on that part, its trying to keep up with the paperwork and other changes

So Cris are you still going to use an agent next time around?

I would do so but I agree with you they charge way too much.

I'm probably going to put myself through it one more time next year, but after that I might go back to either 800k in the bank or send over 65k per month... have time to think about it before next July...I might start sending over 65k per month 2 months prior because if it's as horrendous as this year at least I will have made a start on the 65k method ready for the next year.

One thing I won't be doing is using an agent so that their greasy palms are tapped 🙄🤬

I didnt use an agent this time. It was... a nightmare haha. Honestly if an agent came in at a decent price i would use them next time. I was quoted like 65k to do my marriage visa. Despite having my own money and bank account already, literally all the paperwork was done etc. So ya thats insane
Tony *********
@Cris *****
yep 65k a complete rip off because you will still have to come up with all the necessary paperwork required.

The only difference in my opinion is that they won't make up all their pathetic excuses asking for unnecessary documents with an agent because the agent of course pays over money in the brown envelope 🙄

Yep. I was honestly ready to just slip the immigration officer like 20k just to get it done haha. We ended up with 4 trips to immigration. We also live the literal farthest drive possible in Thailand to get to immigration. 1.5 hour drive one way haha.

@Cris *****
- yes I followed your previous posts... there's no doubt in my mind everything they did to you was 100% deliberate and had sod all to do with Immigration policy.

When they visited our house I blew up at them because I had enough of their scam bullshit. My wife made me go into another room after they got a piece of my mind. I actually threatened to report them for harassment.

Having had time to reflect on their scamming attitude because we all know it's about getting money from agents I'm seriously thinking of doing the 65k method if there's a repeat next year of the same bullshit.

In regards to that I have no doubt whatsoever that next year will be the same crap from them making things up. Someone who replied to one of your earlier posts said they know someone who's been going through this shit with them for 20 years! It's shameful the way they are treating farangs who are contributing and in the main supporting Thai families. I also have no doubt it also goes right to the top 🤬

Well done m8, gotta do mine next month

@Cris *****
not at all, they wouldn’t change my retirement visa for a marriage visa, I had to go to Lao, I then had to open a new bank account & deposit
*****
0 bt cash as transferring it from my other account wouldn’t be acceptable as when I came here 2 years ago I didn’t have a account, when I opened one I transferred the money from my wife’s account, joke really but rules r rules 😂

Oh we had 4 total trips there. Including 2 over night stays. And our drive to immigration is 1.5 hours each way. I want to say thank you to Gilbeys Vodka for getting me through that time.
Cris ******

Oh yes. So you are going through some fun similar hoops haha

@Cris *****
I’m glad that amuses you 😂😂

When you say “final stamp” do you mean annual extension or something else?
Cris ******

@Dave ********
im a bit nervous to misgender the stamp because people get mad. But the its the final one after the house visit. After the under consideration one. So I've been considered. Haha

@Cris *****

We are now in phase 1 of ours. Initial. Doing the setup etc for the big one in 3 months. Congratulations.

We don't mind a home visit, but we are using an agent with the whole hand the passport over and then get it back 45 days later.

Only 44 days til that is the plan.

congrats. Me and my wife are waiting for the marriage visa final stamp. The Immigration just came to visit my home yesterday. Did you go through the DIY procress?
Cris ******
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Ivan *****
oh yes. Pretty sure im growing gray hair in my beard now because of it
John *********
@Cris *****
Is it really complicated??
Derek *****
I would gladly pay Thai Visa rather than go through all that :-)

Actually, I did. The entire process was me handing over my passport to their courier and then collecting it from my mail box. I was on the fence with DIY but your nightmare story sealed the deal. Thx for sharing your experience!

@Derek ****
i showed this to my wife and she was laughing. Im growing gray hair in my beard and im attributing it to this process

@Derek ****
haha. If I could find an agent who didn't charge way to much i would 100% go that route. Your process sounds... lovely. Haha
Charles *********
It's a formality if all papers are correct
Peter ********
@Charles ********
I don't understand why people need to pay an agent. Just check with immigration about what documents are needed, fill them out properly and the whole process is a breeze. You have to turn up in person anyway to have your photo taken. The whole process takes about 20 minutes. The only problem is the loooonnnngg waiting time if you don't make an online appointment.

So ill take one of the issues we had. So we live, literally the furthest i think possible in Thailand from our immigration office. 1.5 hour drive one way. So we got the paperwork, have to go to the bank prior, they usually open up around 830 to 9, so we are there as soon as they open, but prevents us from getting early for the que. THEN, korat immigration is usually quite busy. And we were given the wrong information from the information office, of what we needed for witnesses etc. They even said it was their wrong, so next week, fix the stuff and go back. And again, i believe it was the witnesses signed on the wrong spot or something like that, so that ones shot. But luckily the IO went through the rest of the paperwork and signed off it was ok. Fix that stuff go back again another day. Get a different IO, who then says one of the pieces of paperwork, the directions to our house is not the correct way, regardless of it being signed off by previous IO. And the wait that day was so long we couldnt fix it and bring it back.

Charles *********
@Peter *******

@Charles ********
I am on a marriage visa. 2 years ago, we didn't book an appointment, and arrived at Chaeng Wattana at 10 am and were finished at 8 pm. There were still several couples after us.
Charles *********
I've never seen more than three people in my local immigration ( Roiet)

So no Q, and very little waiting time
Cris ******

@Charles ********
so are you on a marriage visa? 2. Every immigration office is different 3. The Korat office is rarely slow.
