Apologies guys. I recently posted about the CNI requirements for Marriage to a Thai women as part of my retirement visa. I thought it was a simple question. Thanks to the guys with legitimate responses, appreciated. But I've deleted the post as it started going down the old, Marry a Thai girl and kiss your account goodbye, and other such comments around the same.

Hence, I deleted the post before it went completely south and off topic.

Cheers.
Answer summary
The original poster sought advice on the CNI requirements necessary for obtaining a marriage visa in Thailand connected to their retirement visa. The discussion led to various clarifications regarding visa types, particularly the Non-O visa issued for retirement versus that for marriage. Several comments offered personal experiences and opinions on marrying a Thai woman while encouraging a positive outlook despite some negative commentary from other community members. Key points included the necessity of having a registered marriage before applying for the Non-O Immigrant Visa and the possibility of changing the purpose of visa extension from retirement to marriage after the first year.

Wise move, unfortunately I’ve been down that rabbit hole and sadly, there is no shortage of narrow minded people.

Unfortunately there are many marriage disasters, mainly because not having a long relationship, thinking the lady will suddenly change to a foreigner way of thinking, never seeing where she come from or meeting families then the guy get 'eaten alive' for his cash. The woman was running her 'business' well as an entertainment assistant to extract funds for family! Then the guy suddenly hates all Asian females 🙄

Wishing you good luck and happiness

Married 22 years now, 5 of them living here. I'm guessing some guys probably feel they got ripped off by a woman in this country but it's a two streak, most should have seen the warning signs and walked away just like anywhere in the world. Good luck.

Your post was somewhat misleading as you cannot get the 1 year extension of stay based on marriage if your Non Imm O visa was issued for being 50 or over(often referred to as a retirement visa). Technically they are the same visa but issued for different purposes. The first extention must be for the purpose the visa was issued. Anyways good luck on which ever route you choose.

Steve Greir thanks for the clarification. I wasn't aware for the marriage visa extension the Marriage had to registered before applying for Non O Immigration 90 day visa. I assume my understanding is correct now. Right?

Yes, the first yearly extension needs to be for the same reason the Non Imm O visa was issued. You should be able to change it for the 2nd year but check with your local Immigration Office.
