TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the best border locations for a visa stamp as their yearly visa is expiring next month. Comments clarified that one cannot obtain a visa at border crossings but must do so at embassies or consulates. They also discussed the specifics of retirement visas and extension options. Additionally, it was confirmed that vaccination is no longer required for entering Thailand, and the user can travel with their unvaccinated Thai friend to neighboring countries like Malaysia, Laos, or Cambodia for the border run.

Vaccination is no longer required to enter Thailand. The temporary rules that were introduced last week only to be scrapped only applied to foreign nationals and for arrivals by air anyway. Thais were never affected.

You can take your unvaccinated Thai friend to Malaysia, Laos or Cambodia very easily. I'd recommend Laos or Cambodia.

Again, not clear. What kind of "Retirement Visa" -- O-A, O, LTR ? If O-A, and 1-yr validity just ending, yes you can get re-stamped for another 1-yr (not new Visa). If O-A, and already used re-entry stamp, yes you can leave and try to apply for new one. OR, you could leave, and re-enter Visa Exempt and then change/convert to Non-O Retirement inside Thailand, and 1-yr Extensions thereafter. If already on a Non-O with 1 yr Extension, you do not leave, you just keep extending. Kindly provide better details, and you might get better advice.

She still has not clarified what "Visa" she is extending. So, not sure what it is. Obviously, Brandon is correct IF it is actually an Extension of an existing Visa (O or O-A). But, really don't know what she means.

Maybe she has "O-A", and just wants to get re-stamped? Hard to figure out, since she provided no details as to what "Visa" she supposedly has.

Why not just extend what you have?

You don't get a visa at a border, you have to visit an embassy or consulate
