TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on where to perform a visa run or border hop to renew their tourist visa while in Bangkok, expressing concern about the Cambodia border. Various suggestions are offered, including crossing into Malaysia, using the Kanchanaburi border with Myanmar, or applying for a new tourist visa at the Thai Consulate in Vientiane, Laos. Community members emphasize the importance of understanding visa rules and the potential scrutiny from Thai immigration regarding frequent border runs.

That's the first time I heard the word renovate used in visas :O

Still the O/P has their answers :)

go to Kanchanaburi and from there the Myanmar border crossing is just 1 hour away..I did the whole thing in 1 day from bangkok and back myself for about 1500 baht.. you dont need any agency

Border run (border bounce) is crossing the border and back to Thailand for visa exempt entry or new entry from multiple entry visa.

Visa run is going to nearby consulate to purchase new visa.

You can check this for visa run or border run from Bangkok.

And as above, also check Bangkok buddy for border run. These are easy option from Bangkok if you are not keen to do all by yourself.

Or get cheap tickets go and back to KL or somewhere near for border bounce by air.

I thought about it, and here's my opinion:

1. Read this chart here
*************************************************************
%20on%20Arrival/VOA.pdf

2. If you are from a country in the purple "Passport holders of the following countries/ territories may enter Thailand without a visa", EXCEPT ISRAEL, you can get a new 30 day stamp by crossing over to Malaysia.

3. If you are from a country in the "Passport holders of the following countries/ territories may enter Thailand without a visa" BUT not from Indonesian, South African & Russian, you can border bounce at Myanmar via Kanchanburi

4. If you are from a country in the "Passport holders of the following countries/ territories may enter Thailand without a visa" BUT NOT FROM Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Chile and South Korea, then you can cross over through Cambodia.

5. If you are from a Visa On Arrival Country, you have to fly out and then fly back in to get a new visa.

6. If your country is not listed, then you need to buy a new visa, a completely different topic.

I just did a visa run this morning with Bangkok Buddy. Leaves 5 am check-in at 430. Goes to small Cambodian crossing. Was back to Bangkok around 330 with the 30 day stamp. I'm usa passport but was plenty of European folks doing the same at the border.

@Matty ******
itโ€™s border bounce (border run), not visa run...

@Benjamin *****
I figured he can ask. Ffs
Benjamin ******
That's nice and good, but where is he from? What type of visa (or lack thereof) does he have? Is he trying to do a border hop? Can he do a border hop? We don't have enough information to say :(
Benjamin ******
What is it that you're trying to do? And what country are you from?

go to Vientiane

Go out and come back in Thailand as many people do.. Just need advice about what's the best way to got new stamp about tourist visa

You can not renovate or renew the visa, it is used and has no function any more. But you can visit a Thai Consulate and apply for a new Single Entry Tourist Visa.

probably the kanchanaburi border run, leaves from Tesco On Nut every day at 5am

If you plan on staying in Thailand you may want to look over your visa options. There are several available including the Ed Visa...Muay Thai training course as an example.

Be aware that Thai Immigration is closely looking for those who are staying long term in Thailand using back to back border runs and Tourist Visas. I suggest you read recent postings in this forum of others. Good luck. Enjoy Thailand.

It is said that one can only enter Thailand by land crossings two times each year. There is no rule about flights. However Thai Immigration is now beginning to question all of ones entries into Thailand. In other words times have changed. And its been reported that Consulates and Thai Immigration are connecting their computers...thereby both can see what the individual really has been doing. Getting a new passport does not wipe the slate clean.

yes... Key is how many times you have used various methods of reentry into Thailand. Its up to the Thai Immigration Officer to interpret ones comings and goings...over a period of time. A Tourist visa is no guarantee that Thai Immigration will allow one to reenter Thailand. Its best to have 20,000 Thai baht or equivalent in cash, the address of where you are staying...at least for the first few days of your visit and proof of onward travel out of Thailand at end of authorized stay. These three questions are important if asked.

@James *******
does border run defined? For instance if we leave TH for a month and only then come back , is it similar to leaving and coming back after 3 days?
James ********
Might I suggest you apply for Tourist Visa at Vientiane Laos. Take van from Udon Thani to border and back...apply morning first day, pick up afternoon second day. That gives you 60 days plus opportunity to extend for 30 days at Thai Immigration office in Bangkok.
