Hello my friend and I are from the USA. We entered Thailand almost 45 days ago (no visa required) our entry expires on May 5th. My friend and I are wondering how to do the bounce in and out and which would be best (specifics please like which bus to take to Laos, how many days it will take etc.) we were thinking about doing the 30 day visa extension but now are considering bouncing out and then doing an extension to have 60 days.
Me: I have a teaching position here starting on May 8th so they will help me with my visa process unfortunately after my entry expires and also not sure how long the process takes.
My friend: She will apply for a student ed visa unless there is a different option you suggest as she will work remote. Any insights as to how to go about starting and completing that process would be helpful as well.
Currently we are in Pattaya. Please be specific as possible as we are almost completely lost. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user and their friend, currently in Pattaya, are seeking guidance on navigating their visa situation as their initial entry into Thailand is expiring soon. They contemplate doing a border bounce to Laos for a visa exemption renewal versus applying for a 30-day extension. Comments suggest options, including going to Jomtien Immigration to apply for the extension before the expiration date, and considerations for converting their entries into Non-Immigrant visas or applying for an ED visa. Essential details discussed include timing for the immigration office, obtaining a TM30 filing, and the implications of overstaying.
is workable IF you can get a TM 30 filing/copy ASAP from your New landlord.
"OR what you could do IS
get the new TM30 from the place you're going to move into tomorrow..
Then do NOTHING until Monday morning when you go to the immigration office and apply for the 30 day extension.
You will NOT be fined for overstay because your stamp expires on a day the immigration office is closed (weekends or holidays) and as long as you show up MONDAY to get your extension all you'll get is an overstay stamp that says "overstay xxx days fine waived due to holiday" and you'll get your 30 day extension like normal ๐
That is a viable option too"

I am in an Airbnb apartment building, I have asked for a TM.30 but have not gotten a response yet, so Iโm not sure how long it takes for them to get it, or if they can do it in time. Or what my other options would be if I cannot get a hold of them in time.
that's a possibility... Worth trying. When at hotel check-in ask them for a screenshot of the TM30 filing they will be doing.
And when they go to Thai Immigration... Also have a copy of the rental agreement with the New landlord to show the Thai Immigration Officer. Will need to have the address of where they will be living to put on the application form.

If you go tomorrow morning Wednesday... This is the common found requirements for the 30 days extension of stay.
Jomtien Immigration does require a TM30 on file with them.

You need to talk with your employer and see IF they are able to convert your Visa Exempt Entry into a Non Immigrant B visa at Immigration or if you have to apply at a Thai Embassy.
Your friend need also to apply for a Non Immigrant B visa, or Smart Visa or the LTR visa as the ED visa is employment prohibited, which simply means not allowed to work while being inside Thailand.

You MUST do something on or before this Friday May 5th
You have two options...
1... Go tomorrow morning Wednesday May 3rd to the Jomtien Immigration office and apply for the 30 days extension of stay.
Thai Immigration offices are CLOSED Thursday and Friday this week.
Don't go on OVERSTAY by ๐ซ NOT going to Thai Immigration office tomorrow.
2. Do a BORDER BOUNCE .. by Friday this week.
Do NOT ๐ซ use the Poipet Border crossing. It's problems !
Suggest you ask locally in Pattaya for an experienced border bounce service company to take you to do the BORDER BOUNCE and back same day this Thursday or Friday.
The Border Bounce service companies are busy so don't delay in contacting one tomorrow in Pattaya.
Google Border Run Service Company PATTAYA... To find the names of a company.

I'd take the extension now and bounce later, that will give you 90 days, things always take longer than expected. As to your friend she can't work on an ED visa. To work inside Thailand (even remotely) is illegal without a work permit and there's really only the LTR visa that allows you to do it. Yes people do it but it's a risk

Why would you NOT take the 30 day extension on your free entry stamp for 1900baht at the immigration office?
GO to the Jomtien Immigration office and apply for the 30 day extension, THEN worry about bouncing out and back to get a new entry stamp.
I mean if you're going to "live here" on free stamps until you get your act together you might as well max out the time you get on them
