NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
OK so visas for you & your daughter are 2 very different things. At 59 you can apply for an O visa & extend it based on retirement annually once you have 800k in a Thai bank account, the only reason you would need an agent is potentially help with opening a bank account bor if you don't meet the financial requirements.
Your daughter will not qualify for a retirement visa so you need to look at the Thai embassy website in London to see which if any will be appropriate. Unless she qualifies for the new DTV she will struggle to stay here long term unless she can find a job which provides a work permit, she may be able to get a 1 year ED visa to learn Thai but otherwise will only be able to come for 60(90) days at a time. Again do some research on the embassy website.
Get an international drivers permit in the UK which makes getting a Thai license fairly simple & allows you to drive legally for 3 months after entry.
Get travel insurance for your 1st year or health insurance, once out if UK for 6months you're no longer entitled to NHS treatment.
Rent a hotel or air b&b for your 1st couple of weeks while you look at property, photos aren't always realistic.
FB can be very helpful for searches but you will find more once you're on the ground. If you really need an agent try searching any Krabi expat fb pages for recommendations but be aware of the visa requirements first & know that if you don't meet them you may be stuck using an agent every time, go to immigration with the agent so you know it is a legitimate stamp.
as she is so young she can’t retire here. If she has a specific skill and can get a job here then it difficult for her to be here. If she is a teacher then she will have no problem.

Before deciding to retire in Thailand, make testruns at least 3 month on the available budget, since everyday life can be very different from holiday life.
Take controll of your new life, by investigate the things yourself, that is far the best way to go.
Here's my take, thinking you need an agent is a red flag for the whole move. Not being a troll. First arrived in 2010. I'm trying to save you some trouble. These answers would not even need to be born form a question if you wanted or had a leg up on this new adventure of yours. Thailand sorts a lot out that becomes shocking to many and the inevitable eventually is not a pretty story with a happy ending. Be savvy enough in advance before even thinking of buying the ticket. This place chews everything up and spits something new back out, for everyone. Thailand either changes, or in random cases, already matches your DNA. If you're not ready for that, stay where you are. People die here for being naive and well intended.
If you don't know what your doing as an expat, Thailand will show you red flags on its own. I am not going to argue this with you. Apparently you're still in your honeymoon period so your perspective debunks the validity of your agreesion towards me...online. I'm just trying to help people while it seems your looking for a target.
oh, did I touch a nerve? Thanks for teaching me what's my concern...online. You're a clever little gem! Says the guy with no profile photo and 11 friends. Ok, give me a minute. Let me get a pen. Got anymore valuable insight?
what a wanker, I don't spend my time all day and night shooting shit on FB or any other websites. I only went on FB to pick brains about visa knowledge, but obviously not yours as you probably don't have one. By the way, you jumped on a reply that I made to someone else, so get a life and try minding your own business if that's possible. Or maybe not, just another keyboard warrior know all.
you are a sad man. Insinuating being on fb is some negative thing. 😆 Sorry to have made your butt hurt. I do spend a lot of time on fb running multiple facebook groups in two countries. You're right, I'm wasting my time due to being such a wanker. Thanks for sorting me out. Cheers, mate!
I'm doing a Shirley Valentine, just selling up and moving over, never been, always loved thailand, never took a chance in my life or had any excitement, so now I'm doing it, for me. Brought up my family, my son is settled and my daughter will come with me. Don't know where or when, but I'm just chilled.
forget all the twerps. Just ping if you need help.

I suggest you go on holiday there first. Meet agent in person. Google search when you’re there if you get no contacts off here. I’m up in udon. So can’t help. There’s a good one in Pattaya. But, again not your area.

Why do you need an agent? For visas/ Flights/ Finding accomodation? And where in Thailand?
it's easy from Canada, you don't need to bank or season funds as affidavits of income are still offered and accepted. Get a Non O online before you leave, that gives you 90 days. The information needed is all shown on the e-visa site and easy to meet. If Manitoba west, use Vancouver consulate, if east the embassy in Ottawa.
Once here, set up an appointment at either the consulate in Chiang Mai or Canadian Embassy in BKK, depending where you live. Get the affidavit of income by providing either pension info, proof of income from CRA or whatever method you have to prove you can support yourself. Take that to the immigration office you would be using along with all the other documents and get the yearly extension. If you are married, get your spouse added as a trailing spouse by getting the fact that you are married an agree to provide for spouse added to the affidavit. Trailing spouse is not extended to same sex marriages, yet, and you may need your original marriage certificate an may need to be translated if not in English. You also both need to have entered on Non O's as it makes it easier so you don't have to leave and get it at a nearby consulate. Easy and no need for an agent.
