The discussion focuses on finding a reliable agent in Bangkok to help with obtaining a retirement visa. Several users recommend different visa services, including Thai Visa Center and suggest contacting a doctor or concierge for referrals. @Henrik ****
good idea... I will enjoy my time and my life here but WITHOUT the joy and excitement and fun dealing with the IM. I will live my life and let someone else deal with the formalities. The cost of doing things this was should not be the issue... for enjoying your life without the worry, hassle, and time spent at the IM office is the issue.

Can an agency help me get an O A on a tourist visa while in the kingdom?
Brandon ************
@Edward *****
you can't get an OA visa in Thailand. That's only available from the Thai embassy in your home country.

You can get a non-O visa in Thailand.
John-Paul ******
Thai Visa Center. They will pick up and drop off to you in BKK.

We allow questions like this only when the poster provides context.

In this case they provided location, and type of visa needed.

The post could have been further improved by also providing their current visa type.

can save you wasting your life reading stuff like this
Donald ********
@Todd ********
I’m going to contact them thanks
John ********
@Donald *******
that's fine but just remember that you will be stuck with the agent
John ********
@Todd ********
I don't need Thai visa for my visa application I can do it myself
Todd *********
@John *******
anyone can. It’s ridiculously easy. But not many people are foolish enough to tie up 800k for no apparent reason and the right to stand in line at their bank and immigration every year. Not what most of us retired for. Which is why agents are doing such a brisk business. People can afford it
Jet ********
I just remembered it was a referral from the concierge in the dusit thani hotel You might want to just go there that way you’re speaking to somebody face-to-face if you live in Bangkok and most people who live there know where that hotel is if not, it’s very simple. Look it up on Google, but it’s off of Rama five
Jet ********
It’s good to have a good Thai wife who’s educated well spoken and likes to do things for her husband. I’m very fortunate to have found my very very good wife plus she’s beautiful smart, and beautiful. I scored. And she gave me beautiful, very beautiful child who is now in college getting straight A’s takes after his mother obviously
Jet ********
I forgot who I used my wife usually handles everything let me ask her and I’ll get back to you, but I know it wasn’t Bangkok. That’s where our condo is at. Have a good wife. She handles everything for me. She’s so sweet and speaks perfect English.

- all the information you need about anything like this - the official Thai Government webiste has a lot of authentic information
Todd *********
@Amyn **********
this has nothing at all to do with the retirement visa. And BOI is not government
Jacques *****
Why is it most are afraid of using an agent? I hear they are thieves, and the expat opts to doing everything themselves instead. Hmmm. They have a bad reputation
Peter *********
@Jacques ****
This is a poor answer to the question.
Amyn ***********
i would advise - everyone to go to the official government website - read it - 2 - 3 times - then realize that they DO need good help and seek it - being educated
Jacques *****
@Amyn **********
your advice is not excepted
Amyn ***********
@Jacques ****
- please do NOT mislead people or try to create mis-information - NOT every agent is bad - agents are licensed and know the system so they can get things done quicker as they do NOT face language barriers. - Agents have every right to charge for their services as they do the same for people that lawyers doctors and accountants do "fix problems"

Like every doctor is not great - and there are some lawyers also who dont work well - the same applies to agents also

foreigners or farangs - like to do things themselves because that is how they have been raised - TO NOT DEPEND ON ANY ONE - they do NOT come from joint families and are not rude - they just take time to understand this really loving culture

it's normal that anyone who needs to get any solution for any problem first understand the problem and get their own information so they are well prepared for themselves

its not about trust - the link was posted for SELF EDUCATION

@Amyn **********
what he said below me. If it was regulated then it would be easier to trust.
Brandon ************
@Amyn **********
agents are NOT licensed. It's a completely unregulated thing and that's why there are so many scams
