TLDR : Answer Summary
Expats in Thailand facing the expiration of their Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) after five years have several options to consider for long-term residency. They can reapply for a new DTV if they still qualify, apply for a retirement or marriage visa, or explore the LTR visa if they meet the financial criteria. Engaging in local business or partnerships can also provide pathways to longer stays.
I don’t think anyone can say if DTV will still be available in 5 years time. For sure, Thai visa policy makers will be reviewing the effectiveness of this visa or other wise, and we could see rule changes in the coming year or so or the visa scrapped altogether.
I will be 14 months away from retirement Visa when my DTV expires so I will start planning that. Combined with tourist visas and trips to neighbouring country's and back home, the 14 months will be up in no time. I could be dead by then or moved on to greener pastures. I will cross that bridge when I get there.
Does it say somewhere that you are only allowed to apply only once for thr DTV? I'm sure if they don't change it, you could be easily apply again for a new visa. Just have to show all documents again.
Hopefully they will grant a new one, it's seen normally that digital nomad visa are for fix terms and not extended especially if we see EU countries offering, it will depend on government looking at how it is used by the people and was it according to what they expected.
Only if the program is still running. If you think it will be or the rules not changed to make it unobtainable/undesirable to most as in the elite you truly dont understand anything about the politics behind it.
You dont seem to understand that the people behind it are disposed government with their master in prison who only introduced it to troll their opposition who are now in power. Who have already reversed the trolls of legalising poker and changed the beer laws.
You could integrate into the society, learn the language and customs then set up a company to operate a business and/or marry a decent local girl from a good family (not Isaan type lol) and she will assist you with everything otherwise whats the point in settling down here? just go explore new destinations while you are not anchored to a place
