TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion addresses whether the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) can be extended after its initial five-year validity. Most comments agree that the DTV cannot be extended and will expire after five years, necessitating that holders apply for a new visa. There are numerous uncertainties regarding future policies and the specifics of applying for visas in five years, leading to a consensus that it's too early to predict future options.

First... after 5 years it won't be extend

Because your visa validation is 5 years , means at the end of the 5 years the visa is expired. Means also, need a new Visa

Second.... no one ever can predict 5 years time about the policies and the rules to be implemented that time... in reality you can't even predict what will be the situation end of this year.

So.. enjoy your current time holding this visa

Till further notice by authorities and don't bother yourself with that far ending point.

Because as we said... no answer ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™

There is no provision for an extension on the DTV. If it's still around you could possibly apply for a new one, but we're not going to know that for at least another four years, and there's always the possibility that previous holders may not be able to apply again. Too many unknowns. If you're looking at wanting to remain in Thailand forever, my advice is to look at other potential visas just in case you can't get another DTV

Nobody knows. The Visa is not yet a year old. It took them 6 months to come up with a few guidelines on how to extend in country. I can assure you there has been no thought put into what happens in 5 years time.

You're asking about FOUR YEARS and change too soon ๐Ÿ™

No one on this group OR any thai related group on the inter-web has the slightest idea how it will work in July 2029 <- five years after the Destination Thailand Visa progran rolled out

Doesn't matter if you have a connection to the UK or not ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ,

You can go to a nearby country's thai consulate and apply for the DTV online thru them without any issue at all.

There's no requirement you get the visa in your home country
