If I file for an extension on a non-immigrant O visa, single entry, and it's not granted, what is my best option to stay in Thailand? Is there a way to leave and return quickly?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If your extension on a non-immigrant O visa is not granted, ensure your paperwork is complete and check the criteria for your nationality. You may leave Thailand and return quickly, possibly applying for a new 90-day Non-O visa after leaving and start the extension process again. Specific financial requirements must be met if this is your second year of extension, including maintaining a monthly deposit of at least 65,000 baht.

Sounds like you are applying for a 12 month extension of stay for retirement. You either meet the criteria for both the current year and the next year or you don't. There's no real leeway. If you are refused you can leave Thailand and return visa exempt and start over by applying for a new 90 day Non-O and then an extension or apply for the 90 day Non-O at a nearby consulate then extension before that expires

if this is your second, or longer, year extending your extension of stay, you must have at least bt65,000 deposited from an overseas source every month with no exceptions. You can not be short one month, and be over the next month to make up for it. It is not a cumulative total over the whole 12 months. It is at least bt65,000 every month. If one month is short then the 12 month count restarts the following month. If that happens then the bt800,000 sum in the account for at least two months is again required, as the US embassy does not issue notarized wage statements that is the only other thing immigration accepts.

@Kool ******
or you can just put 800k in your bank account 2 months before applying for the extension

, it's just the way it is, and has been for the last 8 years when the financial requirements went through a change in 2017 when too many people were caught scamming the notarized wage statement option. Immigration after that required that all embassies attest that all wage declarations made on the form were accurate. Most embassies quit issuing them at that point, and also ended the combination of wages, and savings deposits.

As long as your ducks are in a row you should have no problem,Bank Statements bank book ,TM30 lease it’s easy

If you meet the requirements there’s usually no reason an extension won’t be granted.

Depends on your nationality as to whether you can leave and return quickly (without a visa).

@Mike ******
leave and enter on 30 day exempt....

But if they turned your extension down for cause of some kind then entry may be up to discretion of IO.

Why do you think you might be denied an extension...

@Tony *********
there is no 30 day exempt entry anymore. It is now 60 days, and has been since last July.

it’s 60 days not 30

my 12 month bank statement might not show enough income for Retirement.
