OP confirmed that it was his fifth SETV in 2 years. No changes at the Embassy, when they gave double entry they gave three total, now with SETV they give five in total, means they will also count visa from other places. However it is still one of the most pleasant Thai Embassies.

Good to know the back story. (y)

, before you start to make the world crazy please tell how many SETV in your passport. Vientiane usually count to 5 and give this warning, so you might had three from other place and two from Vientiane. I will turn off commenting until we hear from the OP. Thanks

Everyone wants to cry how unfair it all is. Try and live in the UK or the US on tourist visas and see how unfair it is there too.

@Jay *****
not true. there are quotas and qualifications required to get immigrant status. No0one takes justANYONE

What? You think it's easier to stay in the US long term than Thailand? Attempt to stay in the US anymore than 6 months as a tourist and see what the result is. That's if you manage to get a 6 month stamp to start with.

Thailand is easy to stay and has many options for being here long term. Staying here on the wrong visas and swapping passports is simply starting to be not tolerated any longer.

@Jay *****
Lol! you must be kidding

It seems like the US has a lot more immigrants and refugees and are more welcoming than Thailand, I think the laws are a lot more strict in Thailand because the US goes back to a time where it was built from immigration.

@Je***
, so this was your second one from Vientiane and you got the warning stamp :/

How many total tourist visas or visa exempt entries were in your passport?
David **********
I wonder about this too. I guess you have to read other people's posts to see if anyone is getting a 6th visa now if they are spread out over time.

@Lu**
it's a crap shoot on when or even IF you will get the warning stamp although the consulates are handing them out much faster than before.

Even if you get the warning stamp they will give you the tourist visa, it just means you're done using that consulate on that passport

I honestly don't think they factor in how much time out of thailand you have, I think they simply go thru your passport and count up the tourist visas stickers.

Hey Tod, I know you are the man to ask!... I have 8 tourist visas in my passport. 4 from my home country and 4 from Laos.

I enter Thailand from the uk on a SETV then do a visa run to Laos for another one. Then go home for 3-5 months.

I have done this 4 times hence the 8 visas.

My question/concern is... do you see it being an issue the fact I have 4 SETV all from Laos in my passport, even with the fact I have have 3-5 months breaks back home??

And am I right in thinking you will be issued the warning stamp in the photo on the last time the feel happy issuing another visa from the same place (signalling its time for a new passport!)

TIA mate

The remark means you can't come back again in laos..
Luke **********
How many back to backs did you have 2 or 3?? Or more?
Robert *******
As far as we know, the consulate does not use a database. a New passport and apply again is still an option.
Ben *********
@Jay *****
you could damage your passport so you would have to get a new one
Robert *******
I'm not American so no idea, but it always helps if you tell the truth.
Jason ******
Will the US embassy find it strange if you apply for a new passport and still have a lot of blank pages and years left before it expires? What do you say if they ask why you want to get a new passport if its not expired and still has lots of pages?
Álvaro **********
Is it the second visa in a row? I mean, without any time out of the country between visas - visa runs
Sam ******
I got stamped same. Not one consulate would issue another tourist visa for my passport.
Tamtam *****
@Samuel *****
ok thx for this informattion
Sam ******
I tried they wouldn't issue. Took student instead
Tamtam *****
Maybe ventiane will
Jason ******
So Vientiane only allows 2 tourist visas? Does this mean that you can't apply for any more tourist visas at Vientiane or at any Thai embassy that sees this stamp?
Daniele *************
I took 3 back to back in vientiane with no stamp

What’s the longest visa you can obtain without any hassle?
Fraser **********
@Jon *********
would it work out cheaper lol
Jon **********
Or get married/have a kid 😅
Jon **********
Im at 2.5 years on SETVs. New passport during that time. Expecting hassle/this stamp soon.

For you Fraser, and me, the non o a isn’t applicable - over 50yo). There is a METV, ed visa, biz visa or elite. Thats the only long term options, after exhausting SETVs
Robert *******
You can find the information and how to apply here:

@Robert ******
how do I go about applying? Through a agency or just apply online myself?
Robert *******
Non Immigrant O-A visa, gives you 1 year of entry, so you get 2 years out of this Visa or the Thai Elite Visa, gives you minimum 5 years.
Chris *******
METV 6 months.
Robert *******
That will be a change of Consulate for the next Visa.
