What should I do if my Thai visa is denied after a long stay, and can I use the 30-day exemption?

At the embassy in Hanoi this morning the woman at the counter said I have been in Thailand a long time, and my visa will have to be approved by her boss and I’ll need to come back tomorrow.

I’m aware this is standard procedure - could she be trying to scare me? I know there’s a risk I won’t get the visa either.

If I don’t, can I try to fly into CNX and get a 30 day exempt if I have a denied visa or will I be denied without question?

UPDATE: got the visa :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual shares their experience at the Thai embassy in Hanoi, where they were informed that their visa approval required management authorization due to their long stay in Thailand, causing concern about the possibility of denial. They inquire about their options if the visa is denied, particularly the possibility of entering Thailand under a 30-day visa exemption. The conversation reveals common issues faced by expats regarding visa regulations and experiences, with some accounts highlighting stringent scrutiny of frequent tourist visa applications.

I've found them to be quite friendly at Mae Sae in the last year. Same at Chiang Mai immigration office – always very polite and easy to deal with. This is the first time I've had a bad experience with Thai authorities.

But yeah, yesterday I felt like a criminal before she'd even looked at any of my stuff 😕

Once -approximately 20 years ago - I went to Mae Sai in the North to do a visa turn around and when I came back I was tempting to Thailand I received a stand for 2 months when after 2 months I went out again to get a new stamp I was berated for having a two-month stamp which had nothing to do with me but was the mistake of the idiots who stamped me in

@Henri *****
I sensed they enjoy being mean to folks. Before she even looked at my passport, I handed all my documentation over, immaculately prepared inside a plastic sleeve and she threw it right back at me. Very rude.
