Hi everyone!

I am looking for some advice. I am an Austrian citizen and my passport is pretty full with Thai Visas (mostly Non O - Volunteer Visas). I haven't had any tourist visa in 2019 (last tourist visa was beginning 2018; Non-O Visa all the way through from May 2018), but I had one visa exempt boarder crossing at the beginning of August and now a visa exempt when I flew back into Thailand last week (I have been out of the country from end August till mid December). My current visa exempt with extension will get me to mid February and then I will leave the country again for about 4 weeks, but would like to get another 3 months from Mid March to Mid June. I should be easily getting a tourist visa with extension? Or would that be difficult with all my past visas? I am thinking either Vientiane, Yangon or KL. I have been to Vientiane, but not to the others, and not sure about requirements and strictness nowadays.

Thanks so much!!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Austrian citizen with a history of multiple Non-O (Volunteer) visas is seeking advice on obtaining a tourist visa after several visa-exempt entries. They are considering applying in Vientiane, Yangon, or Kuala Lumpur and have concerns regarding acceptance due to their previous visa history. Community responses suggest that applying for a tourist visa may not be straightforward due to stricter regulations at consulates for those with many Thai entry stamps.

Vientiane I would say no, KL & Yangon maybe BUT you need to book an appointment to even apply ar the thai consulate in KL AND you need to meet the requirements on their website. Yangon is walk up but again you need to meet the requirements.

Every thai consulate in S/E Asia is tightening up on issuing tourist visas to people who have a passport loaded with entry stamps to thailand.

Check the website of the thai consulate you're thinking of using to see what the requirements are at that consulate.

If you are working in Thailand it is important you obtain the correct visa and work permit.

I doubt that you will obtain another Tourist Visa in either of the Laos Thai Consulates.

Nor be able to obtain one in Vietnam or Cambodia.

Lets ask Amornrat about KL ...

It may be time to return to Austria and seek a METV. But then again having any visa in your passport is no guarantee of entry.

I am not working in Thailand. I was volunteering here for a long time, but now just back on a prolonged visit for friends etc. I haven't had an actual tourist visa for 2 years.

Why not make it easy for yourself and start thinking of a visa that suits to live inside Thailand. It should be easy to get a tourist visa to visit Thailand as tourist for a short term visit. it becomes harder to apply for a tourist visa to be at home, how the application process will be in March till Jun 2020 is a nice to know future experience. I guess not much will change and the final decision of getting a visa will be in the hand of the staff of the consulate and the final decision to let you enter Thailand will be made by the Immigration Officer at the checkpoint.
