I want to apply for DTV & do it via an education visa.

I plan to go to Laos to do my DTV visa for it but I also need to leave the country cause my tourist visa will end Feb 16.

How long does it take and what are the steps to apply for the ED visa / DTV Visa?

Very confused by how to start the process (but I do understand already what other things I need to show such as proof of funds, etc as shown on the Laos website seen below)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is confused about applying for a DTV visa through an education visa and plans to travel to Laos for this purpose. Comments indicate that it may not be valid to obtain a DTV visa based on education alone, as experiences suggest limited success with this approach. Instead, many suggest alternative avenues for the DTV visa such as Muay Thai training or cooking courses. Additionally, they emphasize understanding the distinction between DTV and ED visas and the specific requirements for each.

Ed visa 15 months easy to apply withing Thailand with an event or language school. DTV soft power Muay Thai or cooking must have 500k in the bank and 6 month training program through a certified school, then you have to apply from outside the country. Fight EVO360 Thailand - Thepprasit Boxing Stadium if you need a good school with all the paperwork.

I believe it's a mistake to try to get the DTV Visa in Laos for language study.

Only one report of DTV success for language, as reported by a member in reply to your post, and that was from the Sydney Australia Thai Consulate.

Why have you chosen Laos for a DTV in language study? Did some school suggest that? And if they did, what success have they had with their students approved for the DTV Visa?

What is your passport nation?

Have you been in Thailand for several years working under the radar or with a Thai work permit?

Have you already had an Ed Visa for language study in your Thai Immigration history?

Suggest you look at another reason to obtain the DTV visa.

Muay Thai training school

Thai cooking course... or..

Suggest you review this option...

With reported success in getting it issued by the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh... course fee is 9,995 Thai baht for 5 years of monthly classes or sessions.

then carefully choose one of the options for the DTV visa and use a course provider which has successfully helped obtain the DTV visa with a Thai Embassy or Consulate.

With your careful planning you should get the DTV Visa.... Good Luck πŸ€

Note that the Thai Embassy or Consulate in Laos now use the on-line Evisa application system... but after you submit your application, they will request you come to the Embassy or Consulate in Vientiane or Savannakhet for payment in CASH for the DTV visa and interview with a consular officer. And will request you to use your cellphone and show them the proof of your current bank account balance of at least 500,000 Thai baht or more.

Read the recent posts from others who have obtained the DTV visa in Laos.

Use the search πŸ” tool top of the forum page

ENTER ... DTV Visa Vientiane

...............DTV Visa Savannakhet

CLICK on it and all posts about getting it will Pop Up to read the posts and replies.

You cannot get a DTV based on education πŸ™ It is not a reason to get it

Yeah I double checked with them this week and they confirmed that Thai language courses are supported in Sydney 🎊

Quite strange indeed seeing as many people have been denied DTV with language enrollment and told to apply for an ED visa

Then again Sydney was always a renegade consulate doing what they wanted πŸ˜›

Renegade? Us Aussies like to think of it as "The People's Consulate" πŸ˜†

The DTV and ED visas are two different type of visas
