What are the best visa options for staying in Thailand longer than 12 months with a Non Immigrant type B visa?

Hello,

I currently have a Non Immigrant type B visa which expires on October 27. I have a condo in Pattaya where I am currently living with my fiancée and I want to stay in Thailand longer (up to 12 months). As I am under the age of 50 I can not get a retirement visa.

Which visa would you recommend?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a Non Immigrant type B visa expiring on October 27 and seeks to extend their stay in Thailand for up to 12 months. The suggestions provided include applying for a 60-day COVID-19 extension for 1,900 THB, which allows for a temporary stay while considering other long-term options like an education or volunteer visa. A Thai Elite visa is also mentioned as a potential long-term option, though it requires significant financial investment.

For the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, you will need:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and want to use their special forms)

4. A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy website saying they don’t issue the letters, OR a print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.

You will need to cancel your existing extension of stay first.

Ask the local immigration office what their requirements are.

About all you have available (other that Ben's suggestion) would be to get the documentation from your employer, cancel your Non-B visa extension then apply for a 60 day covid extension for 1900baht at the immigration office where you got the Non-B visa/extension.

During that time you could look for other longer term options to stay (education visa, volunteer visa, etc)

The covid extension is the thing that will buy you 2 more months so that's what I'd say to go for first. Then get after looking at what's out there

Thank you, I completely forgot about that extension of stay 🙂

If you believe you qualify for another type of in-country visa or extension of stay, here are a list of websites that give some more information:

It’s your responsibility to figure out which one is best, and which one you qualify for. If you find a visa that you think you qualify for, please message a mod and we'll reopen the post.

I'm going to close commenting to prevent this post from becoming a "well, have you looked into Visa X or Extension of Stay Y?" that you probably do not qualify for.

Sadly, the only visa or extension of stay you would qualify for (assuming you don't have half-Thai children) is an elite visa. This starts at 600K THB and lets you stay for five years.
