Hi, me and my friend are in Koh Samui until end of September but we love it so much and want to stay for a few more months and travel around a bit. Can anyone recommend the best way to get a visa/which visa ? Would appreciate it 🙏🏽

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user in Koh Samui seeks advice on how to extend their stay in Thailand. Responses suggest that they are likely on a visa exemption, and they can perform a border run to Malaysia to obtain a new 60-day visa exemption, which can be extended by an additional 30 days locally. Some recommend using local agencies that handle the border run process, with costs around 3600 to 4500 baht. Others mention the possibility of applying for a six-month multiple-entry tourist visa as a viable option for longer stays.

Bounce the Malaysian border. Unless you've already stayed extensively in Thailand this year on exemptions, that should work. Then extend to get 90 days total.

If on Samui now and your exemption and 30 day extension are complete, you can border bounce with VisaTech who have an office directly outside Samui immigration. One day van trip to the Malaysian border. I think cost is currently 3600 baht. Gives you another 60 days which can be extended by 30

Just do a border bounce with one of the agencies in Maenam. Cost is around 4500 baht. They will check your paperwork before you book and it’s guaranteed visa for 60 days which you can extend for an additional 30 days on samui. Super easy just means a full day in a van.

I assume you’re on a visa exemption. Then do a border run and get a new 60 days visa exemption and apply for a 30 days local extension. This gives you 90 more days. As mentioned not many visas available in Thailand, and your most suitable visa is probably a six months multiple entries tourist visa which gives you up to nine months in Thailand. Best option at your embassy/consulate at home before you leave if you like next time.

The best way to get a visa to qualify for one and apply for it before you travel to Thailand.
