Hi again. I am hoping to enter Thailand in June. I will enter on my current extension based on retirement that expires on July 6th. I'm not in a position to renew at this time but would like to stay a further month. Would the local immigration grant me a30 day extension do you think? As always many thanks for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on the possibility of obtaining a 30-day extension on their current retirement visa which expires on July 6th. Community responses indicate that a 30-day extension is not available for retirement extensions. Users suggest the alternatives of applying for a yearly extension at the immigration office, leaving the country and re-entering for a visa-free period, or considering other visa types like the Non-O or tourist visa if applicable.

Hopefully you bought a re- entry permit if not you may get a 60 day exempt stamp as your extension will be void without one

youโ€™ll have to leave unless you have Thai family

even if they have Thai family they would have to leave unless they are on an O visa.

HOWEVER, they said they are not in a position to renew; an extension and a renewal are the same price, so other ussues, are at play.

Without knowing those, there are no other variations that seem feasible.

Sadly they will not, ๐Ÿ™ If you have a yearly extension based on retirement you can only get a year extension that's it. There is no 30 day extension available.

If you have a thai wife or thai child you could get the one 60 day visit thai family extension they allow, but that would be it.

when you have 30 days or less left on your current 90-day stamp you can go to your immigration office and apply for the year extension. You should go there now and get the handout listing the requirements for the documents copies etc that you need

Apply for a new type O visa from your home country through the Royal Thai Embassy website.....it will only cost $80 usd (approximately). That would give you 90 days in country.

there is no new type of Non-O visa, the visa is the same 90 day single entry that's been sold since all the consulates went to the eVisa online system

Yes Tod, a new visa would be new for him. It's the same old 90 day single entry visa as always.

you are correct with that, he could indeed buy a new 90 day non-O visa (if he can show proof of funds) thru the thai consulate in his country before he comes back here and then when he goes to stamp in, enter on that new visa rather than the old extension w/re-entry permit. That would get him 90 days when he stamps in

He could even buy a single entry tourist visa before he came back thru the consulate in his country and enter on it, giving him 60 days
