Hi . Im on a 4 month non immigrant retirement visa. Now in Kuala Lumpur for "visa run". A friend told me i can easily get a multiple entry ( or better extend it to one year ?). The embassy here should have my data ( income etc) on their system i hope ( only brought my passport). So just show up at the embassy here?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently holding a Non-Immigrant Retirement Visa (Type O) and is in Kuala Lumpur for a visa run. They are seeking options for extending their visa, possibly to a multiple-entry or a year-long visa. Responses indicate that a year-long multiple-entry Non-O visa cannot be issued in Southeast Asia. Instead, the user may apply for a yearly extension of stay in Thailand by meeting certain financial requirements, such as maintaining 800K baht in a Thai bank account or providing proof of an income of 65K baht per month.

Thanks. Last year i crossed the border from laos to Thailand by bus 2 times ( had only normal tourist visa then ). Last time the officer said i could not cross the border more times without an approval letter from embassy. I heard its easier with plane but also there the rules are tightened? How many tourist visa can you get in one year?

@Edv***
, you can come in on a 30 day visa exempt entry, then go to your immigration office where you live and apply for the 90 day Non-Immigrant Type O visa by meeting the financial requirements. It usually goes under consideration for 14 days then you go back and get the Non-O visa and the 90 day stamp inked into your passport.

Yes just "stamp in and out". So no problem to do this on top of my expired visa? But after that i need to apply for a real visa ( will have to send papers to embassy in Oslo again i guess )

Umm there is no normal tourist visa :/

Did you you go to a thai consulate in Lao and BUY a tourist visa before you entered thailand?

OR

did you just go to the border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of Lao and stamped right back into thailand to get a 30 day visa exempt entry.

If you did the second one you can only get TWO 30 day visa exempt entries in a year and they were telling you to go to the thai consulate and BUY a real tourist visa

You will get a 30 day visa exempt entry when you come back into thailand. It doesn't matter whether you enter by air or land.

Thanks. Visa is category "O" and no of entry "S" (single). I arrived 5 dec 2017 and left 4 mars 2018 ( it was also written 4 month on the visa approval).

No consulate in S/E Asia will issue a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on being over 50 (retirement).

You could apply for a yearly extension of stay at the immigration office in the area where you live in thailand by meeting the financial requirements of banking 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 60 days before you apply

OR

getting the affidavit of income from abroad notary letter from your consulate showing you get 65K baht a month in income

OR

by using a combination of banked money and the income letter showing a total of 800K baht for the year..

Umm there is no 4 month Non-Immigrant retirement visa. So I will go under the guess you have a 3 month 90 day Non-Immigrant Type O based on being over 50.

Unfortunately, you are not going to get ANY visa from them without proof of funds via either a bank account with 800K baht in it or a notarized letter from your consulate stating you get 65K baht a month in income.
