A mate of mine is arriving in Phuket on a tourist visa in a couple of days with a Chinese passport. This allows her to stay 15 days. Can she apply for an extension at immigration? Or can an agent help? Or would she need to leave and come back again? Her intended stay in 30 days. Any tips / references would be grately appreciated. 🙏

If they are arriving with a tourist visa, they will get 60 days and can extend for 30 at a local immigration office. You need to find out if they actually have a tourist visa that they applied and paid for BEFORE coming to Thailand or not.

If they do not have a visa, then they are eligible for Visa on Arrival, which means they will apply for and pay for a visa at the airport. Normally this is for 15 days but has been temporarily increased to 30 days. Beware that the day of arrival is day 1 if you're trying to count the days.

She will get 30 days visa on arrival with Chinese passport. But it’s not eligible for extension. Does she have a return ticket or onward ticket to another county?
