Hello guys so I came in with my Passport from South Africa. I got till 1 Aug. My flight is 02 Aug 08:50AM to USA. Do I need to extend or can I do something cheaper than paying 1900 for 9 hours in TL haha? (I DON'T WANT TO OVERSTAY)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a South African passport holder, is looking for advice on whether they need to extend their visa or if there are cheaper options to avoid overstaying in Thailand before their flight to the USA. Comments suggest that the only options to avoid overstaying are applying for a 30-day extension at a cost of 1,900 THB or accepting an overstay penalty if it's under 24 hours, which may not incur a fine.

Another thought occurred to me; You don't say where you are in thailand, and depending on how close you are to a border (and WHAT country that border is with) you might be able to exit/re-enter the country to get another 30 day visa exempt entry stamp.

Of course some countries you're gonna need to buy a visa to get stamped in and out but it might be worth checking into.

Short of going to the immigration office and getting a 30 day extension for 1900baht there's no "cheaper" way to avoid a single day overstay stamp in your passport. :/

You choices are

A) get the overstay under 24 hours stamp in your passport

B) get the 30 day extension for 1900baht.

That's it. :(

Thanks for information. I'll head to immigration and get a extension done.

I don't want to overstay. I rather extend then.

then you pay 1900baht and get a 30 day extension

as a rule IF your overstay is less than 24 hours the passport control staff at the international airports waive the 500baht fine for overstay and only put a small stamp in your passport stating your overstay was less than a day and there is no fine.
