Hello,

I too received the DTV in Vientiane today.

I’m Canadian, have a Canadian holding company and a Canadian residence. I was teaching in Thailand until this past June.

I brought a ton of info with me including Thai bank statements, tax ID card, personal Canadian tax returns. They handed this all back to me.

Beyond the standard photos, passport copies, application etc they reviewed:

- 3 months investment account statements showing 500000b each month.

- copy of lease in Chiang Mai.

- AoI from company.

- corporate tax return

- bio of company and myself.

- original signed contract with Canadian client.

- letter from Canadian client which confirmed I would be working remotely.

Essentially they wanted to know: what are you going to be doing in Thailand, where are you living, and how much money you got?

I thought 1 of the requirements was that you apply from the county that you are a resident of? Is this not the case? Can anybody just go to Vientiane and apply?

yes anyone can apply from anywhere. I was previously a resident in Thailand before applying for this visa with a work permit, but originally from Switzerland. I applied at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane.

@Jared ******
yes - of course. Anyone can go to any neighbouring country

that is very convenient for some reason I thought you had to apply in a country where you are a resident. I must be mistaken.

Lets hope the globalists dont lock the world down again. Exit after a year to reenter would be very interesting if and when they do.

My thoughts as well. What I think Thai immigration would do in such cases would be to require in country extensions every 6 months since the borders would be closed. They'd then be able to require all sorts of documentation, which is as yet unknown.

Having said that, should this happen again, I think they'd probably have an amnesty for the first few months, meaning you'd receive an automatic extension of stay during those times.

Let's hope they never do another lockdown/border closure again. If they do, some indications are it might happen end of 2025 or 2026 but this is mere speculation based on certain clues being put out at this point.

@Paul *******
what difference does it make in this case?? Nothing. You get to stay and enjoy Thailand just like all the smart people did last times. I know fools who went home for Covid 😂

@Todd ********
Well makes a lot if you think about it. Unless I am sadly mistaken, you have to exit every year. Bit difficult in a plandemic situ, dont you think?
Todd *********
@Paul *******
yes, you are sadly mistaken. The entire country went full visa amnesty for plandemic until clear. No visas required at all. Never been a better time to be in 🇹🇭

exit and reenter Thailand EACH 180 days to AVOID 180 day extension fees at your local Thai Immigration office.

Which day did you apply? How many days was the turnaround on the approval?

I am not saying the visa isn't any good but any visa which involves having to leave and re enter every year needs to be thought about carefully. What if you don't want their jabs which some countries would insist on when stepping into their country, should it be made compulsory and knowing the way the WHO works, and they have many countries in their pockets, it can make life difficult. Lots of hypothesis, i know, but in these crazy times, nothing they spring on us surprises me. They are already trying to blow up this MPOX nonsense into something big.

this visa is the best and easiest ‘residency’ visa I know of. It effectively allows 5 years full time inside Thailand with a single exit every year. And if you travel normally, every six months… you never even need to renew this. Brilliant.

With the pandemic, there was no requirement at all to leave Thailand for anyone. Regardless of visa. Just had to stay in the country and enjoy Thailand without the tourists. Absolutely fantastic. No jabs needed. It seems you come from a typically ass backward nation and got stuck during pandemic. All you had to do was think it through and make an effective plan. Most people failed miserably at decision making 101
