TLDR : Answer Summary
To re-enter Thailand, you will need more than just the TM8. Required documents typically include a re-entry permit, a passport valid for at least 6 months, a copy of your passport's data page, a copy of your entry stamp, TM6 form, a recent passport-sized photo, and a fee of 1,000 baht (or 3,800 baht for a multiple entry permit).

Generally the same as an extension. Passport data page, copy of entry stamp, TM6, photo and 1,000 baht (3,800 for multiple).

A re entry permit and a passport valid for at least 6 months are sure to be needed.
