Tod and the wise men, I have a query! I am currently on an ED Visa with one further extension of 90- days due on the 20th April and I have also been offered a working contract with a BOI company. I have very few pages left in my passport (German) and would like to apply for a new one through the consulate, so my question is this – do they allow a person to keep the current/old passport while waiting for the new one for identification purposes? Secondly, the transferring of extension of stay onto the new passport; how does this work? Thanks you in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user on an ED Visa is inquiring about retaining their old passport while applying for a new one through the consulate. They have been informed that it is allowed to keep the old passport until the new one is received. Additionally, the process to transfer the extension of stay to the new passport requires a letter from the Embassy, which should be presented to the Immigration Office along with both passports, with no associated costs.
You can hold the old one till you pick up the new passport. You get a letter from your Embassy which you bring to your Immigration Office with both passports and they will do the transfer, should be free of costs.
