ORIGINAL POSTER
It’s been 20 days since I applied in Phnom Penh (Soft Power), and I still haven’t received any response or feedback. I’m starting to lose patience, and I’d like to know: should we follow up by email, or just keep waiting until we hear back?

Be patient and STAY in Cambodia UNTIL you have the decision from the Thai Embassy.

because applicants are to STAY in the country where they submit their DTV Visa Application UNTIL the decision is known.

I understand that he is in Cambodia. I was showing what many Thai Embassies and Consulates are telling their applicants.

I wish him success in getting the DTV visa.

it doesn't matter where he is. Thai consulates treat visa applications in the same way they always have. Think of it as if you physically had to hand over your passport

But in some countries, you can have two passports for this reason: one is waiting for a visa while you still need to travel. And on the website of the embassy in Cambodia, they don’t mention this, so I don’t understand.

I don’t see why it would be a problem for you to be in Vietnam or Laos instead of Cambodia. Of course, there might be an interview, but if you can come back within three hours…

do whatever you want. It's BEST to follow the rules and stay in the country where the application for the DTV visa has been made until the decision is known.

Ok, but until proven otherwise, these are rules that you’re passing on to each other without really knowing why. If the only argument is to say “that’s just the way it is, it’s the rule,” then it’s not worth much, sorry. And once again, just because Sydney says something doesn’t mean the same rule applies everywhere. After all, everyone can do whatever they want.

You said it! Everyone can do what they want! So the embassy in Cambodia can reject the application for any reason they want.

FYI... on many Thai Embassies and Consulates the statement that you are to stay in the country where you apply for the DTV until the decision is known.

Hanoi, Paris, Brisbane Australia, among others.
