How long does it typically take to receive visa approval from the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh?

Hey guys,

Is there anyone who has received approval from Phnom Penh after 10 business days? Today is my 10th day and I still haven't heard anything. I've had no requests for extra documents and it went to Pending Approval on the same day.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the approval time for a visa application submitted in Phnom Penh, noting that it has been 10 business days without any updates. Comments suggest that weekends are not counted, and it may take longer due to high application volumes.

Anonymous participant Sundays are not a working day. Also the day you apply doesn't count

Anonymous participant It is actually 10 business days, not including the business day you applied (so technically 11 business days). Furthermore, Jan 7th I believe was a Cambodian holiday. Therefore, Wednesday (22nd) would be the 11th day and should receive notice in the evening

Anonymous participant then you should get it tomorrow. Today was 5th and 6th

Today, some of those who applied on Jan 6th started receiving.

Currently taking a minimum of 11 working days.

I'm also waiting so here's what I've been seeing so far.

Jan 19th - received who applied on Jan 4th

Jan 20th - received who applied on Jan 5th

Jan 21st (today) - received who applied on Jan 5th and 6th

Some of my friends who applied on 6th are still pending approval.

They work on Sunday's? If that's the case this is my 12th working day.
Hein ************
Anonymous participant Not sure, last Sunday was a surprise. Because on Friday 17th, those applied on Jan 1st started receiving.

I applied on 7th. Finger-crossed

If so, you must have been in Phnom Penh for at least 15 days right? Are you on 30day or 14day arrival visa? I applied on 10 jan and am unsure whether to keep staying here or move and wait in HCMC.
Hein ************
I am with 30 days.

Hi, just a Q. Did you do a walk-in application or did you submit the paperwork online? Planning to do my application in Phnom Penh as well.

Have to be done outside of Thailand.

I am not in Cambodia yet. (Outside Thailand at the moment.) Can I submit my application? Or should I be in Cambodia and do my online application there?

I appreciate your kind response. πŸ™πŸ»

You have to be in the country of the Embassy you apply at, and stay there until approved / rejected.

Else you risk loosing the 10.000 Baht fee.

You can leave Cambodia after submitting proof you are there but should NOT enter Thailand until the visa has been approved. You can however visit Vietnam or Laos or any other country in the meantime. As long as you've submitted proof of location, it doesn't really matter anymore...just don't enter Thailand, that's the Golden rule.
Henrik *****
Several Embassies explicit mention the you have to stay in the country you apply until the visa proces is over.

@All ****
If you choose Phnom Penh embassy, you need to be in Cambodia.

You have to submit proof of location which is entry visa to Cambodia, hotel booking, etc.

Before applying look at the website of the Thai Embassy of your choice and see how many BUSINESS day they need to proces visa’s, then and 50 % more days, since now is the busiest time of year to apply for visa.

Yes this is the 10th business day. I said in the post.
Henrik *****
Then wait the 50 % more days = 5 days.

If not received then, wait until you get the visa or you will forfeit your application, and loose the 10.000 Baht fee.
