TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around how to transfer money for a marriage visa deposit to a Thai bank account. Users suggest that while sending in either Thai baht or Pounds sterling is possible, using Revolut to convert currency may provide better exchange rates. It’s noted that sending Pounds might result in higher fees and worse rates, so converting to baht via Revolut is often recommended for better financial efficiency.
I used revolut once from Australia to the ttb bank some reason it went through Nsbc and they took 20% of my money still haven’t found out why have asked both revolut and ttb and no one can answer luckily only a small amount of money. I would be careful
actually you can buy Thai baht within your Revolut account. Taking advantage of any peaks in exchange rates at anytime you want. When you use your Revolut debit card. It withdraws the baht first from your account.
it's not the rate I am worried about . The transaction has to show in my bank book as international transaction . So sending sterling at least looks Koshor ?
for a marriage visa an international transfer is not a requirement unless your Immigration Office is rogue (have you got their list of requirements yet?)
more important that the transaction shows as an international transfer in my bank book when it's updated . Anyone know the code for international transfer that is put in the book . Please ?
It really doesn't matter, but likely the receiving bank if you send Sterling we'll have a worse foreign exchange rate than the app you're using. Check the rates and fees first.
I am sending money to my daughter, a triple citizen (Thai, Australia, Japan) now a student in Australia. From my Japanese acount. She recevies the funds within seconds。An Australian bank (ANZ), no transfer fee (when you have over 100 ,000 AUS$ in your Japan account).
SWIFT. No mickeymouse transfers.
