TLDR : Answer Summary
The query revolves around transferring GBP to a Bangkok Bank account in Thailand, specifically the challenges faced with Transferwise requiring an IBAN when only a SWIFT code is available. Various comments offer solutions, including using the SWIFT code directly with Transferwise by changing the currency to THB, or using traditional UK banks for wire transfers to GBP accounts. Some users mention successful transfers through Revolut, while others discuss additional services like Western Union and Azimo for cost-effective transfers.

You should all try Azimo, instantaneous transfers from UK to Thailand which is remarkable, transfer fee is 1 pound fixed, this recommendation from The the biggest sceptic,it really is that good

Western union I use .. bank to bank 2-3 working days and cheap to do.
Eg. £500 to send costs £1.90

Go online on your U.K. bank account and you can do an International transfer in any currency to any bank account anywhere in the world.
, I tried that a few years ago..via Lloyds Bank.. wanted to transfer money to FCD account with Kassikorn. Bangkok Bank (main clearing bank in thailand) wanted 50 or 60 pounds to clear it here in thailand. On top of the Kassikorn costs. Rejected it back to UK. Now I just issue a cheque, that clears in about 14 - 21 days and only costs about 20 pounds total.
Have not tried it since, but, things may have changed...

You need is GBP Bangkok bank in Thailand, if you pay into a THB account it will be automatically converted based on the banks daily exchange rate

Revolut is fine, I transfer back and forward no problem

The last time I used it I only paid the 200bt fee. Is the £20 charge a new fee?
Once you have a Bangkok Bank account you can use the London branch to transfer money through. There are 2 codes you can enter, 1 for transfers in Sterling and 1 for Baht.
it does take two days and cost is about 10 X Transferwise though. I transfer GBP everymonth and it arrives in THB at a good conversion. Far better than I would get here.
ahh they told me it was £15 or £20 a time depending on which conversion rate I choose. I pay under £4 with Transferwise and it usually arrives in seconds at a good rate. I will check the last rate I got.
Into the reference box in your UK bank account app.

if you are still in the UK, go into your bank and send a wire transfer. As long as the account in Thailand is a GBP account (make sure you have the correct routing information, or else you'll loose funds or it may be converted) the funds should be transferred correctly.
you may be able to call or email them instructions to wire the funds. But if you’re in Thailand why would you need GBP? Thb would be better.

TW is not an option as their business model is having local currency in country. So in Thailand they would only ever have THB there would never be GBP available. Most of the transfer services are similar. It may be that you have to go down the SWIFT route. Unless you are travelling to Thailand soon and can carry the funds and pay in when in Bangkok
I know you can request the UK sending bank to send in GBP and not THB. So GBP arrives in Thailand, usually then they exchange it to THB but as you have a GBP account they could deposit the GBP into that account. I'm guessing there will be charges but not as much as no FX takes place

Do you have local bank checking or savings account
I use the swift code when I send money to my Thaibank account, you can find by googling your thai bank swift code. Or through the Bangkok bank branch in London swiftcode is BKKBTHBK
