For DTV, do they accept Wise balance for bank statements of usd equivalent to 500k baht?
Answer summary
The acceptance of Wise balance for the DTV visa application, specifically for bank statements showing the USD equivalent of 500,000 THB, varies by embassy. While many users report that Wise is accepted in some embassies like those in Los Angeles, Jakarta, and Vietnam, others caution that it is not universally recognized due to Wise being classified as a financial app rather than a traditional bank. It is recommended to check with the specific embassy as practices can differ. Additionally, multiple sources of funds can sometimes be combined in applications.

You know the answer, I cannot say any words to comfort and confirm you that Wise is also safe and accepted as Regular bank statements. If you doubt and hesitate, so just don't submitted Wise.

Could you confirm which embassy in Asia allows Wise? Also, for the amount, can I show split sources, like half from Wise and the rest from my local bank?

Anonymous participant Multiple accounts can be used. Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia approve with Wise. Other embassies most likely too, you can check the threads

That will be really helpful if an embassy approves a Wise statement. Could you confirm which embassy allows Wise statements so I can fly there to apply?

Also, can I show multiple places, like half with my local bank and half with wise?

pretty sure they hold a financial licence in Australia. Although they may not be a bricks and mortar operation they are still a regulated financial institution with the same deposit guarantees in place with Australia.

wise has statements, you do have bank account details from it and does wire transfers(depending on the country/transaction).

Wise might not "legally" be a bank but you (can) have a bank account with an IBAN account number there (I have 3 for different currencies) and also CAN download statements of these accounts. Whether embassies accept these statements or not, is a different story, and might also depend on a specific embassy/official, as many things in Thailand...

Andi ***********
Andi ***********
Anonymous participant It depends where you apply. Malaysia requires 6mths of 500k. Other embassies such as Vietnam approve with funds seasoned under 3mths.

I believe it’s Embassy specific as some have been nitpicked over Wise being Fintech and not an actual financial institution.
