Is flying into BKK still something to be concerned about as it was at the end of last year? (yes I know there are no guarantees, just wondering cause it seems like there haven’t been many stories over the past couple of months)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is inquiring whether flying into Bangkok is still a concern in light of previous issues related to entry requirements at the end of last year. The comments suggest that if one has the correct entry requirements, there should be no issues. Additionally, the travel history of the individual may also play a role in any concerns regarding entry.

What's your entry history?

Basically, the more you've been here as a tourist (visas+/exemptions) the more concern.

If you have all the correct entry requirements... no

Ivan McAvinchey. That's where the mysterious discretion comes into it. Its everywhere in thai laws. Police use it to / not fine people for no bike helmets etc. Laws are full of the words "may" and " "can" for that reason. You've been here long enough to know anyone here in a uniform is a law unto themselves. I dont like it either but that's life here..

It's a difficult question to answer without more info because it's on an individual basis. I know 4 people who have entered in the last week. 2 from Australia and 2 from Europe. All entered hassle free. But it's kind of irrelevant because they have their own personal visas/ entry history. That's the point I'm trying to make.

Well then as suggested by me and others , perhaps if justin was more accurate with his question regarding his personal situation, he would get the advice he needs. According to your attitude on the subject there is never a guarantee based on the random rare one sided posts by people who were refused entry without telling the full story...

Again I feel like unless someone is aware and has context around what was happening during the end of last year, this question may not make sense...

Bottom line you are not being helpful, so why post

That isn't the point and you are being deliberately obtuse. Justin is a frequent traveler to Thailand and as a frequent traveler is understandably concerned about rejections.

Having the requirements is no guarantee, people have been rejected even with the cash, accomodation and return ticket. For the extra legal reason that they are "here too much". That's that Justin is concerned about and it's a legitimate concern.

Immigration has discretion. Always has always will. Same in all countries. If you can show one example of a person on a correct long term visa being denied entry for absolutely no reason, then you can start to worry. A handful of people denied out of millions of entries a year is nothing.

Well... that's the thing... late last year there were a number of people who had proper visa's and were still rejected, specifically in bangkok....
